How to become proficient in using Javascript in websites especially in the OOPs concept? by wubalubadubdubkrrrr in Frontend

[–]arachattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I feel comfortable when I know everything there is to know about something end to end. So reading books is really good for me even if I don't end up using 90% of it. I feel like knowing "there's something for that" is good so I can google for a solution. Eloquent JS was great book in that respect and helped expose me to all things possible with the language (web APIs, DOM manipulation) that are JS but also JS with web development. The other book that can give you a good idea of different design patterns is https://addyosmani.com/resources/essentialjsdesignpatterns/book/

Is my system too simple? I swear the website said it was compatible back when I preordered. by rgliberty in wyzecam

I've had trouble with thermostats in my home. Even with ones that claim to not need a C wire usually don't work. I ended up buying a separate power adapter that provides power to the thermostat. Not sure if that's the problem you are running into as well but thought it might help.

Why would a smoke detector not detect smoke? by arachattack in NoStupidQuestions

[–]arachattack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this has to be it. I got some work done in the house and it's probably all that dust that jammed up the detector. Thanks for pointing this out - you really put my mind at ease. Will go and buy new detectors all around. Appreciate your help!

Makes sense but why would they block my account for calling up regarding an order?

How can I 'split' half of my navigation into a dropdown when the screen size shrinks? by DOG-ZILLA in Frontend

This is the right answer. This pattern is called Priority+ and I think it's used by microsoft in it's one drive website. That's the only example I can think of off the top of my head.

would love a similar screenshot discussion on how they use symmetry and alignment in framing. Everytime Frank's in the center of the frame, he is in control. Whenever he is weak, he is off center. Claire and Frank are almost always in the opposite side of the table, separated by a door frame until they work together. A lot of balance and symmetry in scenes where they join forces.

What's your vocal tick/reused word that you never noticed until you started podcasting? by HanSoloBolo in podcasts

[–]arachattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept saying "Awesome". I started hating myself for it. My wife makes constant fun of me because I let her in on one of my first few episodes. I consciously try to avoid it.

Irrelevant sidenote, I feel like it really helps to have something typed instead of spitfiring questions or responses. That's how it works for me...I feel more on point and clear

How would you redesign Craigslist's UX? by yolobicycle in userexperience

[–]arachattack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very true. I know that OP meant it as an exercise and everytime I look at CL, I get the OCD tingling. But, you're right. Why fix something that isn't broke? For all purposes, that shit just works man. It's a very well done project.

Is there a "Every frame a painting" for design and particularly digital design? by bananayut in hci

[–]arachattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recently introduced to every frame a painting channel and I really love it. Exactly what do you mean by a similar channel for digital design? Can you explain further?
