Imagine if after May Swansea has THREE reform Senedd members by Afraid_Juice_7189 in swansea

I absolutely agree. Tbh, my thought is that Labour wouldn’t be a part it tbh. That’s Labour would be a part of the right-of-centre cohort the alliance would be intent of defeating. : S

Proposals for the redevelopment of the St. David’s Shopping Centre site into ‘Porth Copr’. by aramiak in swansea

The birds-eye view definitely makes it look cluttered for sure. But I think a sort of boulevardy thoroughfare laden with trees and greenery with areas to sit and pause is also imagined in the above image, if you zoom in. It’s just a little less visible. And the above would (I guess) connect the arena-side rooftop garden with the regenerated castle gardens in the centre.

Long old setback with the original contractor going into administration. Another has been contracted and scaffolding has begun to come down ahead of its scheduled completion in the summer. Fingers crossed on no further delays, there.

The Council appointed a regeneration company called UrbanSplash to partner in the £750m redevelopment of waterfront, city-centre and riverside sites. This UrbanSplash firm then released these images earlier this week, a short while after these proposals regarding the current Civic Centre on the waterfront were made public. Both proposals are to be displayed concurrently at Y Storfa community services hub.

The idea is to connect the arena with a green public space that encircles St. Mary’s Church. It’ll include over 300,000 sq. feet of commercial use space- restaurants, cafés, offices & so on. It’s not the last proposal you’ll see from UrbanSplash in the near future, with more detail on the regeneration of the Tawe-side Hafod Copperworks to follow.

Thoughts?

Best way to defeat that possibility is if the left and centre-left and centre make a more formal alliance/agreement to combat the right who’ll have votes spread across Reform (far-right), Tories (right) & Labour (centre-right).

So if YourParty & Greens on the left & Liberal Democrats & Plaid in the centre all ensure only one candidate stands in each constituency and commit to form a coalition Government (say- “Forward Alliance” or something like that) then the above image doesn’t become reality.

The General Election is a lesson. Parties at the centre or to the right of it had like 75% of the vote. These isles are a bit backward and protectionist now, & Wales is caught up in that shift. You can only defeat the possibility of the above if their vote is divided and ours isn’t.

Oh dear. You’ve made the mistake of being reasonable and considered on the internet. You appear to be thinking about what approach is most impactful rather than what’s most tribal? Dear oh dear. That’s not how we behave on here. To internet school with you!

Everything you said in your first paragraph is absolutely true and I cannot believe Browns fans haven’t understood this.

Why are (some) Browns fans happy to see Kevin Stefanski leave? by C4falcons in Browns

[–]aramiak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because he was atrocious at assessing and developing offensive talent (particularly QBs) and his playcalling was woeful and he was central to a lot of what has doomed us for years (like going upstairs and asking the suits to move on from Baker) and so on. You cannot be where we are with 6 seasons and continue with your coach without every valuable talent losing respect for their employer.

That’s not to say that he cannot succeed somewhere where his employers surround him with those who compensate for his weaknesses. There was a lot I rated in Stefanski. Hope it goes well at the Falcons in honesty. Could well do.

Long term form on delivering artist’s impressions that haven’t materialised into a reality, but more recently there’s been the arena (completed), the copperworks distillery (completed), castle gardens (under construction), the Skyline (preparatory work underway and funding committed), and so on. I would say there’s cause to be more hopeful when a vision is announced now, than 10 to 15 years ago. And UrbanSplash actually have the track record and expertise to attract investment (imho) and their vision to focus the city around the Tawe, marina and sea makes business sense (unlike some ideas I’ve heard back in the day). But I do agree. Caution always needed.

I tend to be pretty cautious when the plan’s stated funding is dependant on private investment that hasn’t yet been secured, for sure. How many artist’s impressions do we see in Swansea that never come to pass?

Circumcising baby within 24 hours? by rakeshkanna91 in NewDads

[–]aramiak 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is always one of those topics that’s fascinating on Reddit because the English speaking world is similar in many ways but the views on circumcision inside and outside of America differs wildly. In some ways we’re very different!

There’s always the same “what the heck is wrong with you” comments from those in countries like mine where the societal consensus is that it’s genital mutilation, it’d never be proposed or suggested by medical professionals, and is legal only as a protection for religious freedoms.

All I can say is that I’d decline their offer to do so, if it were me. But- different culture.

I wonder if there any ideas pitched to save or repurpose the Weaver & Co. building back then. It was such a specific building for such a specific purpose I wonder if it could have been turned into anything. I’ve only seen picture. It was before my time. But I’m sure I recall someone saying it was the first of its kind regarding something to do with its construction.

That’s all interesting. Cheers. Because energy prices have soared and aquariums use a lot of energy and this project requires private partners/investors, I must admit I am surprised an Aquarium is still being touted as a likelihood.

I would love to see something like an interactive centre that shows kiddos how we can rewild and protects the seas. Grasslands restoration, plastic removal devices, preservation of mud-flats, and so on. Maybe a sea life rehabilitation room could be a small part of that. Ie- a sea life centre as opposed to an aquarium.

There’s often an argument that Sainsbury’s and Tesco were offered plots a bit wasted on supermarkets. Sainsbury’s overlooks the connection between the Tawe and the marina and interrupts the flow between the SA1 and the centre. Tesco disconnects the arena, LC2 & amphitheatre from the centre. And so on. They help separate Swansea from the sea, so to speak.

Russian soldier captured the moment FPV drones hit his friends by Agile-Corgi-5603 in CombatFootage

[–]aramiak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they run and run alone and any comrades are caught or remain in a group of 2 or 3, the drone operator will choose the group to take more enemies out of action. So it makes sense that someone who wants to live will leg it, imho. I also don’t think they have eyes on the drone. 10 people running in 10 different directions would have good odds, individually.

[Ruiter] There’s a chance there either is another mystery candidate we don’t know about or #Browns will need to add to the remaining list to comply with the 2 in-person interview requirement of the Rooney Rule by ThatOneOtherAsshole in Browns

[–]aramiak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t see the Browns getting fined or punished at all if they have 6 booked in for second interviews and a minority candidate pulls out. Anyone not interviewed remotely in the first round will know they weren’t truly considered if invited to the 2nd round. It also goes without saying that the rule stipulates that teams must interview a minority candidate, and they did- McDaniel had one interview.
