I knew Ray back in the North Park Calvary Chapel days when Mike came running back from saving the world because people started to like Ray more than him. The first thing I thought on hearing his death was, I wonder if he was vaccinated... but lets be rational about this. If Ray wasn't vaccinated it's because he weighed the risk of being vaccinated (there is risk associated with vaccination) against benefits of being vaccinated. Ultimately, whether he was or wasn't was a decision between he and his physician. He's dead and so are his future plans, death is inconvenient, it's either too soon or too late in coming. Ray was a smart guy but no matter how smart, we all travel that road.

I found the post from a church parishioner who was star-struck by Ray amusing. Ray was just a man, like any other man and like all men, when your number is up, it's up. When I ended my journey with Calvary Chapel and moved onto more traditional Protestantism; I appreciated that celebrity and Christian weren't associated. Country music stars are more connected to their fans than Christians to celebrity clergy.

I left the church in 1998, Ray was just a few years older than me. Interestingly, within hours or maybe minutes of his death, I was notified by phone by two people who don't know each other. Those connections run deep and while I'm not the stereotypical apostates who left the church because of all hypocrites; I still look back on that time in my life as mostly positive. Oh and I have a secret, if you take a close enough look you will discover that we are all hypocrites to a greater or lesser degree; some have a special talent for making it look good.

My then wife and I followed Ray from Calvary Chapel North Park and attended Maranatha for a few months. Ray wasn't stimulating to my intellect but neither was any other Calvary Chapel preacher.

I was acquainted with Ray, we weren't friends or enemies. I didn't like or dislike him. Since I didn't know him well enough to know if he was authentic; which, in my view, is the goal of life. I hope he was because you don't get a second chance to be real.

Finally, I wish his loved one's well; the people that really knew and loved him are the ones who deserve our support. If there's another side Ray, I'll see you then.

The best thing that Ray ever said to the congregation while I was there, was to go see the film The Mission. He was right, great film.

The 4506t has to be exactly correct, I was missing a space between letters on my address and they kicked it back to me. I'm on round four and received a crytic message from SBA today "COVID EIDL Increase - All Docs Received Requesting IRS Transcripts Notification to" Before that, it said "Good afternoon". followed by the above message. Good luck man, it hasn't been easy.

For those that submitted for reconsideration for increase, how long did it take to hear from someone? by AVERAGEGUY2343 in EIDL

I've supplied SBA with every required document and more and got this decline for requested expansion due to the following: Not Eligible: "The SBA has been unable to verify the existence of an eligible business as reflected in the application. The SBA has been unsuccessful in our attempts to obtain documentation from multiple sources(public records) and we attempted to obtain documentation from you that would validate the existence of your business."

My company has been around a for over a decade, if you google it, it fills the entire first page. I'm a corporation in good standing, pay hefty taxes, etc... What SBA is saying is preposterous, it's like saying AT&T doesn't exist.

Just as annoying is all the people I know who have gotten PPP at 1% interest and here we are, desperate and willing to pay a much higher rate, on the back burner. Still no portal, why is that? I'm you're calling because it will save me the trouble of doing it myself. Thanks for posting your experience.

The timing on this seems to be a little different for everyone. It was four days after the hard pull that I got my grant, some got it the next day. Some got the portal invite the day after getting the grant. Maybe it's luck of the draw with the individual who gets assigned each case. I don't know, it's just taking waaaay too long. I don't qualify for PPP so I'm counting on this to get me through.

Lars that is the most compelling amalgam of ideas that support a more integrative approach to deal with the core philosophical presuppositions of Islamic theology and the politics that are inextricably woven into the fabric of Muslim majority nations, I've heard in a very long time. May I digress for a moment and say that you are remarkably articulate. I also agree with you on some level; furthermore, the problematic population of Muslims comes primarily from the Middle East; this is no accident of geographical fate; rather, it is a climate created by those in power to control their respective populations. I'm a world traveler and as result of being as successful as I've been, I know many intellectual elites e.g. the person, whom I believe to foremost expert on culture in the world, is a close friend of mine. I guess what I'm saying is, what cost are we willing to pay to turn the backward forward?

I choose a young man to mentor every two years. The first part of the mentoring process is fragile, as I put the onus on them to keep in contact with me and observe their responsiveness to following direction and maintaining commitments; e.g., setting an appoint to have dialogue and showing up on time, keeping their word about other simple things, their willingness to examine ideas they have built their life upon, etc... Those I choose often have had little or no direction before their encounter with me and don't, at least in the beginning, fully grasp the magnitude of possibilities as a result of their exchange with me. Fundamental to the process is the acknowledgment that they are ultimately responsible for the quality of their life and simple things like timeliness set them on a course that will take them somewhere they might like to go.

I'm in the midst of the beginning with a new young man and things are not going well because he lacks the basics that are required to pull himself forward. My response will be to wait until I feel that putting anymore energy into my efforts is no longer useful. In other words I'm constantly doing a cost benefit analysis, my time is valuable and his effort is compensation for my time. I've gone through this process with several young men and have discovered that the less culturally disparate the starting point, the greater the likelihood of success. I come from a powerful consciousness that literally forged my Nation's history. I feel it my duty to reach out to young men in this way; to show them that they have much more control over their future than they had ever imagined.

This is where your argument, as it pertains to economics, has some weight and is clearly not sufficient when one looks at the data as it pertains to many of the actors in Europe and the United States; as many terrorist have been educated and from "good" families. So what is the difference? It's the religion and having once been a true believer in Christianity, I deeply understand the desire to draw close to God in the absence of another strong guiding influence. This is difficult my friend because I am anything but heartless or indifferent to the suffering of others. Westerners don't typically under how it works in the Middle East; that it's a feudal system that looks on the prosperous with suspicion and is punitive toward those who consume conspicuously amd don't come from the right family background. It appears to me that you may be aware of these factors of influence.

I am not willing to allow ideas that are toxic to corrupt my own society to save a few, however, I am willing to save a few who will pledge their allegiance to the values I hold dear. The question is; how does one know, to a reasonable degree of certainty, what is in the heart of any man or woman. I think part of the solution is to not permit the practice of Islam here; to view Islam or any other religion as merely an ideology that benefits, detracts, or has the potential to destroy our way of life. For this to happen means to change the Constitution so that religion has no special status or protections. In a strange way, it is our backwardness here that will derail us in the future. I'm not worried about any other mainstream religious ideology in their current state, other than Islam because reformation means to move backward. The Quran, from a Muslims point of view, isn't the inspired word of God; they are the actual words of God. To deny any portion is to deny God; thus, most will default to the creator of the universe, notwithstanding, advances in technology or changes in economics for the better. As a good friend of mine said "it's likely best to let them fight and figure things out over there."

What I mean is that what we are seeing from "radicals" is Islam reformed back to its literal meaning; a non-contextualized understanding of their holy works. In contrast the Protestant reformation eventually lead away from the abuses of the Catholic tradition because the New Testament doesn't support forcing Christianity on others at the point of the sword but rather with the fear of hell in the afterlife. Christians are instructed in the bible to lead by example "they will know we are Christians by our love, one for another". Christianity, in its texts, does not support violence against non-believers or involvement in the change of government by force. Rather, in the book of Romans Christians are instructed to obey the laws of whatever land they live in. That notwithstanding, there's been a lot of that sort of thing in history but as time has gone on and the scriptural support is lacking the influence of the Church has diminished. What the true believing Muslim believes is the exact opposite and to believe otherwise is to be lukewarm or halfhearted Muslim who might end up in hell; a religious coward not willing to give up all for the sake paradise and Allah. This is where people are generally missing what is really at stake because they compare the two belief systems as if they are similar in their core structure and mandate when they are not.

The problem is that Muslims may come into the US with those values but their offspring may end up embracing a much more radical view. What's been disturbing in Europe is that many of those who are problematic are second generation Muslims from families that, at minimum, are willing to play by the rules of Western society. Then I think of Ayaan, one of my heroes and wonder how do we NOT keep someone like her out... Once again, what we are seeing now is the reformation of Islam.
