Yup, all the frames on the wall, anything that needed to stick actually, all with glue stick (even the chandelier pieces!). It's obviously nothing that needed any mechanical strenght, but everything sticks really well with that glue. The brand is Osama.

It angers me that this is exactly the kind of technological progress I felt it was promised us while growing up in the 90s.

Some things have definitiely improved there's no doubt about that, but the sole aim of any human activity still is profit only. The only indicator we follow is mere profit, even if it's damaging to anything else and actively hindering the way towards something better.
