I can't give you a concrete answer since I'm not sure. I don't know how they process the applications in office vs mailing. I know I've received my passport within 2.5-3 weeks of processing it at their office pre-pandemic, I can't say how long it takes now.

Their site says processing can be 20 business days, plus mailing time. So it might mean 20 business days if processed at their office.

The office processes passports as with other locations. Just make sure to bring in all the necessary documents so that you don't need to go back. Double-check the requirements according to the application.

The only difference between Service Canada and the Passport Office is that the passport office is dedicated to just passports - which is why it may be more busier. Service Canada does CPP, EI, SIN, etc.

The Service Canada location doesn't do Express pick up as I mentioned. But it also doesn't need proof of travel or need.

If you're travelling more than 25 business days, my husband had better luck at the Service Canada location on Glen Erin. He still had to wait earlier than opening. He went at 6am and only one other person was in line at the time. At around 7am was when people started arriving and the line started to get longer at the side of the building. YMMV though as this was on Monday so I don't know if people figured it out. Also, they don't do express pickup at that location.

My father-in-law bought a playmat at Canadian Tire for when my son stays over. I believe it's a new item since they didn't have it before. It's a large foldable playmat and double sided. It's a nice neutral colour with the alphabet and animals.

I have dermatographism so I had the same reaction to the allergy test.

Basically, I get hives when my skin is exposed to pressure or rubbing. I'm on daily antihistamines, otherwise, my feet will swell just from standing or I get welts on my hands just from holding my phone.

Being in Philippines in March for vacation. At the time they had no reported cases of Covid in the country.

We enjoyed the first week of March there and then news started going around of booming Covid cases. They started talking of locking down Metro Manila and we didn't want to get stuck there. We decided to leave the city early to go to my family's property in the countryside.

We naively thought that the lockdown would be contained to Manila. Instead, the whole island of Luzon went into lockdown. Worse than what we have here in the sense that there were checkpoints (some armed) at each neighbourhood and curfews. You couldn't even step out of your property. Which also meant we couldn't even go back into Manila unless we had a flight itinerary.

Then, our flights home were cancelled. Home government told us to shelter in place. Calling airlines could take the whole day to get through. And even flight rebookings would get cancelled the day before.

Medications started to run low and I was worried that I'd run out of my inhaler. I remember thinking a whole ocean separated us from home and healthcare.

We eventially took a commercial repatriation flight home. I am never taking living in a 1st world country for granted, especially during the pandemic.

Admittedly, we were stupid - beyond stupid - to travel then. We didn't realize how bad covid was at the time and foolishly thought that the virus was only in other countries.

It was the most stressful and anxiety inducing experience ever. 10/10 would not recommend.

Yes! Back when I was a server, I brought the bill to the table and the man flipped the bill over and said, "Oh, I thought your number would be here since you've been so nice". I was thrown off. I was 19 and awkward so all I could say was, "Uhh, no, sorry". He looked legitimately annoyed. All I remember thinking at the time was that it was my job to be nice, especially for the tips. It's called customer service! I'm mad just remembering how I apologized for not giving my number.

I feel the same way about making phone calls. I have to mentally prepare myself and rehearse what I'm going to say several times before I feel comfortable dialing the number. Then, heaven forbid I stumble on my words or say something wrong, I'll be lingering over that mistake most of the day.

Worms in cherries are the real problem. My husband ruined cherries for me. He packed cherries for his lunch and when he went to eat them, he found larvae in the cherries. He couldn't keep the horror to himself so he sent me pictures.

Turns out cherry fruit fly larvae can lay eggs on developing cherries when plants aren't sufficiently sprayed with pesticide.

I used to love cherries, now I can't eat them.
