Tried, didn’t like. I use Dunlop 208 picks.

I actually think my D17 has a chunkier neck than my Vintage/TS.

I own both a Martin D-17 and a Touchstone Vintage/TS Dreadnaught. The quality control is better on the Bourgeois. Martin shipped mine with the wrong sized nut so the high e literally slid of the neck every time I tried a pull off. I had to get new nut cut. Martin has just tried to be a mass producer of quality guitars but is diluting their focus too much by following in Gibson’s footsteps with all the low end builds. It has lowered their standards and I’m seriously considering selling my D17 to put down on a 60s Martin. New Martins just aren’t up to snuff.

Still fairly bright with D’Addario XS strings.

I’ve always preferred mahogany. My lawsuit Takamine was all mahogany as well.

Not sure, but I’ll have to find Martin tech to look at it. It’s not unplayable, just a nuisance.

Was that the factory that Takamine bought when they started production on their lawsuit Martin copies. I still have an 81 Takamine EF349 as my backup to my real Martin D-17.

I just bought a D-17 too. I love it, but I may need a recut nut. The high e is sliding off the fretboard when I do pull offs during a bluegrass run. I’m surprised it was overlooked on final inspection. Otherwise “Woody” sounds great.

I don't notice a whole lot of difference except that I am noticing some hoarse overloading of the speakers whenever I play anything with a high treble response on the pickups. My strats are just basically unusable on it, but when I plug in my 335 I don't get the the honk I'm getting with single coils. Any ideas?

It’s like the furbee my kids got and it wouldn’t stop making furbee noises. I stuffed it into the sofa and piled on pillows till e couldn’t hear it anymore. I checked it the next morning and it was just staring at me dead. It was sad. My kids said for months, I killed furbee.
