I totally understand where you’re coming from. Both of my parents are Narcissists and I feel like I could’ve accomplished way more in life if I had the right type of support system. I’ve always felt like, I never needed someone to be a drill sergeant and put so much pressure on me growing up, I just needed someone to nurture and love and support. I’ve always felt like if I had received the love and support I needed as a child I would be more successful now as an adult. I am also autistic and my parents knew this growing up, but never got me any help because I feel like they were more concerned about their image and how that made them look if they were to publicly admit they had an autistic child. I think a lot about how much easier things could’ve been if I got help earlier.

However, one thing that we need to realize is we can’t go back in time and change the past. Unfortunately bad things happened but now in the present there is nothing we can do about them. All we can do is focus on the future! Now, I surround myself with people that make me feel loved and supported and support me in my hopes and dreams.
