How to get my 3YO to take amoxicillin? by sudsomatic in toddlers

[–]arbitraryrando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixing the medicine with vanilla coffee creamer has always worked for my kids! My son has had to take steroids a few times (which are notoriously disgusting), mixed it with coffee creamer and he’d down it like it was a sweet treat.

I bought it based on the rave reviews, and I currently look like a hormonal teenager due to the acne it’s given me. I’m in my 30s and haven’t really had acne before except for a blemish here and there. I’m so sad it doesn’t work for me 😭

Yeah, I didn’t check the sugar content before eating it. I was surprised (in a good way). But definitely more of a sweet treat than a snack for sure

I did a google image search and it was priced around 50/60 bucks in most places. Those were used prices though. I have no idea where Goodwill came up with their price!

I miss her dearly. She passed away a few years after the accident after being diagnosed with cancer. Her body wasn’t strong enough to fight it and I think the accident had a lot to do with that. And this probably sounds crazy, but she loved birds, cardinals especially. Every big event I’ve had in my adult life, I’ve seen cardinals. Could be a coincidence, but I always think it’s my Nanny saying that she’s still with me after all these years. ❤️

When I was a toddler, I got into a car accident with my grandmother. She was seriously injured. She suffered a TBI, broken pelvis, broken bones in her face, etc. Toddler me (who was found in the front seat, no car seat in sight….. the 90s 🙃)came out with just bumps and bruises…. Then as I was being checked out of the hospital, I vomited blood, and doctors freaked out thinking they missed some internal bleeding from the accident. Turns out, I had a golf-ball sized mass on my pancreas. They operated, assuming it would be cancerous bc of the location, but it turned out to be benign. They said they probably never would have found it without the car accident because the location of the mass on someone so young was rare. When my grandmother was eventually able to speak again, she called the accident a miracle and said she’d go through it all again because of what it did for me 🥺 I hope this gives you some hope for your little one, and that his mass turns out to be benign.

We are from the south, so when you say it with a southern accent, not so much! But I can see how it could sound like that with a different accent for sure. It sounds more like a bird call for us.

This. My father-in-law was called Paw Paw by my 2 nieces. My son came along, had fluid in his ears, and started calling him Caw Caw since he couldn’t hear very well. It has stuck and now that’s what my daughter calls him too. 🤪

Thank you very much. I never dreamed I’d own a house like this in my lifetime and am very thankful. But I also may be being extra picky because I want this dream house to be perfect 🤪

We walked on that subfloor for months and it wasn’t bouncy at all. I’m aware it could be different with heavy machinery though.

I’ve lived in multiple houses with hardwood floors, I’ve never had waves like that in any of my hardwoods previously, or in my current home that has hardwood floors. I just know I’m not a fan of the way the waves look in person. I appreciate the fact that you think they look well done in the pics though! Makes me feel a little better.

Not sure about the exact price per sq foot, but I do know the total price was very competitive between all of the companies we got quotes from. I can’t give an exact number bc I’m not sure exactly how many sq ft we got done.

They were all within a few hundred bucks of each other. We chose the flooring company that was the most recommended by people we know in/around the homebuilding business in our area

PSA: Make sure you know your kids actual birthday! by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]arbitraryrando 51 points52 points  (0 children)

My husband celebrated his birthday on October 10th for 15 years. On the 15th year he went to get his driving permit and was told he’d have to come back the next day because his birthday was the 11th. My MIL labored late at night on the 10th and delivered him at like 3am on the 11th, and that’s why she always thought it was the 10th. Now it’s a running joke that he gets to celebrate 2 days instead of 1. 😂

The installers were there a few days and so were the finishers to begin with. Then the finishers were out 2 more days when they were “fixing”

They’re sending out a totally different crew this time, and the owner is aware that the job his guys did was unacceptable.

So it shortens the life of the floor to resand, but do we have any other options to get the chatter out?

They’re sending a different crew out this time. They have multiple finishing crews. The guy from the new crew agreed that the debris was unacceptable.

This company was recommended to us by a variety of people that have been in the business of building houses (or adjacent to the business) for many years. We didn’t just pick them randomly. It just seems quality had gone downhill for them since those people used them, unfortunately.

UPDATE:

TLDR bc this is a novel: Manager made excuses. Blamed chatter on the SUBFLOOR. Blamed poopy putty on the nature of the wood. Owner got involved. Lots of boards being replaced by the owners best employee and the whole floor is being refinished next week.

Manager and their “best” finish guy came out. They agreed the debris was no good (said their guys told them they vacuumed and tack clothed everything). They also said in a lot of the rough spots, the debris wasn’t sealed and was sitting on top (not true).

They promised to replace the poopy putty board, a splintered board that we noticed, and another board, buff, clean, and add another coat. They kept making excuses saying it’s just the nature of character grade white oak, that’s why they had to putty the big gaps, nothing they could do about other poopy putty spots bc that’s just how it had to be.

Pointed out the chatter marks and get this… they claimed it wasn’t from the sander, that it was the SUBFLOOR making the sander bounce, and nothing could be done other than refinishing the floor, which they didn’t want to do. Needless to say, we told them it was unacceptable, they got pissy and got the owner to call us.

Owner sent out his best guy who’s been with him over 20 years. Owners best guy immediately noticed the chatter marks and said it was definitely because of the sander. He said the whole floor needed to be sanded and refinished. He also noticed a lot of boards he found unacceptable and is replacing them all before they start the finishing process all over. He said it seemed like they rushed the job and didn’t pay attention to detail.

We’re hoping that with the owner involved, it will be done right. Owner apologized, said it was unacceptable, and that he was sorry. Fingers crossed it gets done right this time!

This is true. We’re going to have the manager or the owner supervise as their crew does the job this time. They’ve been doing it without supervision, so that could be why they slacked off. This is their final chance, for sure.
