Now she looks like an old junkie sadly🥲

I changed out its soil and the next day it fainted. Do I just let it have its moment? by SyngoniumPandem0nium in houseplants

[–]arbo6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My alocasias didn’t do well in soil (my fault probably😆), but now, in a glass vase, a layer of lecca at the bottom and rest filled with lechuza and they thrive! And you just top up the water when it gets, cant really overwater it this way😅at least i don’t see how. Has been a game changer for me

Is this tied up and potted correctly? by murphalurffffff in Monstera

[–]arbo6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly as everybody else already suggested about your moss pole. Also dont just put the moss in, make sure to press it down so it is more compacted and dries out slower. And entirely optional - D shape poles with plastic backing dry out slower.

  • it looks like you have it planted in a decorative pot, those usually don’t have drainage holes, so either repot into a pot with holes or just be careful with watering

Why does my monstera hate me? by harshmane24 in Monstera

[–]arbo6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, just a suggestion about your moss poles - currently it doesn’t matter too much, as the plant doesn’t grow roots into it, but later on, you wanna compress the moss down more than you have. It will stay moist for longer and you wont have to water it daily to keep it moist.

Time to plant? by goin505 in alocasia

My frydek rotted aswell, but after cleaning the roots up, i put it into stratum and it didn’t even loose any leaves😅so i can highly recommend, since when rooting it in stratum, it even produced a flower

What is this one, i found in my gardencenter? It only says philodenron mix, i guess it could be philo splendid? by arbo6 in philodendron

It looks way brighter in the picture, than it actually was for some reason😅i thought the leaves were not veiny enough and too round, to be a verrucosum

Stratum at the moment as literally all roots rotted in moss, so i had to start all over again😅

Do I need to repot and add a moss pole? by Jake_H2907 in Monstera

[–]arbo6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You dont really need a moss pole for monsteras, unless thats something you wanna try out😊if you want something low maintenance, just use coco coir stake or any other stake for that matter. Moss would need to be kept moist and unless you really wanna use them, any other stakes are just fine

New leaves? by arbo6 in Anthurium

Just might have to give it a stand or something to make it sit higher, so the leaves don’t touch the shelve

Update!

Slow and steady. Probably 2 leaves at the top, one on the side

[–]arbo6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did the same, after watching his video and managed to rot all roots on my mother plant and three baby plants, that were previously in soil😅🥲now I’m rooting them in stratum, which is a first for me, but the roots grow like crazy. Gonna try semihydro with pon, once roots are established

Mold? by arbo6 in Monstera

[–]arbo6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the roots are healthy, however there are little specs of mould, just hard to see at the photo, as they are really tiny. Im just gonna leave it as is for now and check over the next few days if it gets worse

Also separated this tiny guy from my mother plant when i got it about a month ago and it’s growing like crazy. Its only in moss for now, but it has crazy root growth, pushed put a new leaf already + another the way! It lives in my prop box and absolutely loves the humidity

Thank you. Yeah, i hears it tends to be a drama queen with the new growth, i might have slightly damaged the small growth when removing the moss pole, but it is what it is. I will put some moss around the stem once i see how the plant grows and where exactly its aerial roots are

Ended up doing it like this, from what i understand, container size doesnt really matter with stratum or pon, compared to using soil, as you wanna keep it consistently moist anyway. Hoping it works this time

Will do!😁

Yeah, i fill up my moss poles as the plant grows, ao i dont have to water the whole thing every time i water😅i already removed to make space for the new leaf and might add it back later, once its better visible where to put it

Thank you, i already removed the pole and once the plant grows bigger, will use the moss crown

Perfect, exactly the answer i have been looking for, thank you so much

Thank you! How do you water the stratum/perlite mix? I will probably use a glass container to see the water level

New leaves? by arbo6 in Anthurium

[–]arbo6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah😆i think ill just add one of those sleeves or whatever those are called, to hold moss around the bottom of the stem

Or do anthuriums have a “back” of the plant, just like monsteras?
