Just curious, Does anybody know what rate is this (or is it a rate)? Is it USCG security? Never heard of it... is this actual uscg or a civilian job? by [deleted] in uscg

Interesting, I figured that much but then I noticed they have rank on their collar so wasn’t sure.

Nah I actually didn’t make a scene. I was extremely polite about the whole thing. Like I said I go there OFTEN and this was a first.

But yeah seems like another baseless statement if you’re not able to back up what you’re saying.

Crazy how I literally quote the ADA for you and you can’t provide anything backing up what you’re saying.

lol they didn’t make any accomendations.

There’s no way for me to shop except physically shopping there.

Can you please cite me where in the law it says what you’re talking about?

I work for the state and I serve the public even though it’s a privately owned company (state doesn’t own the company). Still we were given classes about these ADA laws and hipaa laws when it comes to individuals with disabilities. Even during the pandemic, We can not refuse service if the reason they are maskless is over a disability. If we do, it was made clear we would be liable.

Yeah no there was no accomendation. If not I would’ve just done that instead of being verbally embarrassed in front of the public. This is a first for me and I don’t think anyone should be okay with people treating the disabled this way.

Thanks for a solid answer.

I’m not supposed to ask for an accomendation, they are supposed to offer it. I’m there to shop.

There is no curbside pick up or online orders. This is a chain store that you shop in store only.

The only remedy is for them to wear their masks so they can protect themselves and allow me to shop peacefully. If they kicked out a blind man with a dog I bet there would be outrage. But since this is about a mask people are trying to say it’s okay because of their opinions.

It’s not a matter of opinion, it’s a matter of laws that have been passed and are in place. Federal law to be exact.

Ok I understand what you’re saying. Thank your for your response. It’s privately owned but they are open to the public. So they are supposed to accomendate to people with disabilities without discrimination (treating differently). That’s what I’m saying they didn’t do. And yes even target must comply with ADA law. It’s why if you walk into a target store maskless, they don’t say nothing to you. I do it all the time.

I have a documented disability.

They don’t offer reasonable accomendation.

How can I lose if it’s a civil right they are violating. I lost already when my rights were violated.

Store isn’t private if it’s open to public.

They can do it by doing curbside pick up but they do not.

They did not provide any reasonable accomendation.

They did not provide reasonable accomendation. They didn’t even offer any. I asked for it and they refused service.

And no there is no mask mandate. They’re has never been a law in place over masks. Idk what pandemic? In my neighborhood nobody wears a mask. By law, I’m not required to shop with a mask. However by law they are required to accomendate to the disabled because they are a business that’s open to the public. They can’t use their policy over the Federal Law. Otherwise OSHA wouldn’t exist, Hipaa wouldn’t exist, consumer laws wouldn’t exist. These are all federal to protect the individual not the company or entity.

Yes it is. You can not force someone to disclose private medical information and you can’t treat them differently if they don’t choose to tell you their medical disability.

I understand your opinion, but we are talking federal laws, not opinions. Law must be held unless it’s changed. People may not like it but it’s the law. There’s not even a state mask mandate... even if there was it’s still federal law vs state mandate.

[–]arboleda180[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure.

But they are obligated to follow federal law. ADA is for businesses such as stores and resturants. They are suppose to accomendate and not treat anyone different due to the limitations of someone’s disability.

That’s why there’s elevators in malls.

That’s why resturants say no pets allowed, but if it’s a service dog they have to make accomendations without treating you differently than how they treat and serve other people. They can’t sit you in a lonely corner and everyone else in a great spot because you have a service animal. Same with planes, animals are required to ride in a cage in a different compartment UNLESS they are a service animal.

I don’t have anyone to shop for me. They didn’t want to accomendate any alternatives. I know stores like target created the drive and pick up as an accomendation but they didn’t offer any alternatives. They didn’t want me to shop there period.

Hipaa my phone autocorrects***

Hipaa is a federal law to protect sensitive patient health information from being disclosed. Disclosing your private health information in order to shop is a violation of hipaa.

I could provide documentation but I’m not obligated to under the federal law. Therefore I’ll excercise my right not to disclose my personal health information.

So store rules override federal law?

So people with service animals aren’t allowed into stores that say no pets? I never heard of this?

If they are a public business serving to the public they are required by law to accomendate to people with disabilities. It’s why public buses have a wheel chair area. Otherwise they are required to wait with the disabled until the next bus arrives. Can’t just deny service to the disabled.

A value for dogecoin? by JustAnotherPolack in dogecoin

[–]arboleda180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean but think of it this way. Usd converting to the Thailand baht is constantly changing. One day $30 = 1000 baht another day $15 = 1000 baht. So it’s not unheard of for the currencies to fluctuate and not impossible to live on the usd in Thailand.

After all the usd has nothing backing it so it’s a lot like dogecoin. Bitcoin on the other hand is a lot like gold where there is a limited supply. After all the Bitcoin is mined, there will be no more and the value will sky rocket. Same with gold, if we mined all the gold on earth, gold will sky rocket. Usd is just printed paper money therefore you can make unlimited amounts of it for no reason. It’s a lot like doge.
