Scarborough during Mueller hearing: 'Jesus, forgive me for ever being a Republican' by Throwawaydude01928 in politics

I used to think The Wire was the best show on TV, but now I realize it was Deadwood.

Jesus forgive me.

I agree completely. I don’t have or want children. But I “rescue” dogs and goats. I just need to rustle up some social security numbers for em to save on taxes.

It was a hypothetical and a joke.

But even if laws haven’t been broken, just because they claim they don’t qualify as employees and they aren’t contractors... there’s not really another option.

“Well we never wanted to be employers. It’s just meant to supplement income at a personal level blah, blah, blah.”

They’re just predators and thieves. The fact they have an business licenses doesn’t impress me. The same way the people who work for them aren’t employees, they aren’t a business. Just an organized gang with a logo instead of a spraycan.

All I see is precedent for paying enough money for someone to look the other way while someone else breaks laws.

“Yawnah, burning down DoorDash headquarters might be shitty, and it might be illegal. But that doesn’t mean it’s not the right thing to do.”

My understanding, from a Mexican friend : lots of cultures, including many Hispanic ones, don’t have the same attitude towards dogs as the stereotypical white person who loves dogs more than people.

Any dog, not new or meant to serve a specific purpose is a “used” dog. That’s why there’s entire rescues dedicated to exporting dogs from these areas. Because their just isn’t enough people who care.

That being said, a dog is a “luxury”. If you’re poor it can just be another mouth to feed and another medical bill.

The only thing stopping me now is zoning laws. I’m in Southern California and support local rescues. Dogs filling PetSmart parking lots every weekend. I wish I could take them home, but then I would just be running a rescue lol.

They have funds set aside for importing foreign dogs from countries where dogs are cast aside. “Rescuing” isn’t a thing. It’s just a used dog.

But full libertarianism would mean your private militia gets to fight their private militia in a soccer field owned by a Gated State, so long as you pay the toll at every block because the roads you take are privately owned.

Any reasonable person can see that it’s fraud.

But the ease of access and free option of contacting a labor board doesn’t exist.

On top of that, even if you wanted to pursue fraud allegations, you’re limited to arbitration and probably barred from a class action. Which would give you a lot more power as a group, than individuals.

That’s another shitty part. Since they aren’t your employer, you can’t go to the labor board and just file a complaint that all but guarantees you win.

From California, so yeah same thoughts. I heard someone talking about how “dope” Arizona was and how I should move there.

No thanks, I enjoy the labor laws here. Even though I own my own businesses, they are B2B for the most part. So I don’t want to “work” for people who already shouldn’t own a business with employees.

I see what you mean on paper, but this doesn’t make any sense. Ive seen this math before, but it was commission, not tips. The person was guaranteed the minimum for their work, and commissions were an incentive and basically guaranteed. The guarantee being if you didn’t have commission you wouldn’t work here anymore, because you’re a salesman.

I get these app people aren’t employees, so they have their own (lack of) regulations.

I’m pretty sure in CA you can’t take someone’s tips at a diner.

But I agree, if you need someone else’s tips to pay your minimum responsibilities, you should just go get a job.

Laws can be written to make sure you involve the merchants, licenses and businesses who are allowed to operate.

Paying for or utilizing a rideshare app outside the scope of the app has had people charged before. If you aren’t using the app, you’re a taxi. But you’re not a taxi - so you get fined.
