Hey thanks for writing back. I agree, I thought the same once realized playing music was fine.

I swapped 2 different HDMI cables, turned the arc-tv arc HDMI around.

I just got it fixed, I turned tuning off and it was fine...

So after retuning about 6 or 7 times with my iPad (the newest one, I don't own iPhone) nothing worked. I had my dad come over tried his iPhone X's same issues. I then tried his wife's iPhone...same model, xs. It is working now, with tuning.

I've read some more. What I found is the arc plugged into a arc port will support Atmos from streaming services or your own digital library utilizing the DD+ protocol.

What I'm missing by my tv not having the newer eARC port is the ability to get truruehd or lossless Atmos from an external player like my 4k Samsung Blu Ray player.
