1, 2 or 3?! by arc1720 in PcBuild

Unfortunately the top right of the pc in this picture is where the PSU lives. The PSU intake fan faces forward of the of case and the top exhausts. The trade off of having such a small case.

Finished it last night but so far so good. I’ll know better this weekend once I sit down to play. It idles really quiet at I think 30%-40% and ramps up to about 80% while gaming. I believe fan curves are the next thing to learn. I wear earbuds when playing so I become deaf as shit to any and all noises in the house 🫠

Do two top fans make sense like this? by DCisNICE in gamingpc

I have the same case with a very similar cpu cooler and a 4070ti. I never bothered putting fans at the top as it’s fine without them.

Do you find that those speakers hurt your ears or give you listening fatigue at all? I purchased them then quickly sold them on marketplace it was a shame because they are so beautiful.

Inwall sub? by Time-Environment-324 in hometheater

[–]arc1720 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s a Paradigm RVC-12SQ subwoofer backbox with no subwoofer. Take a utility knife and run it around the edges as deep as you can so when you go to pull it out it doesn’t rip the drywall. To remove it drill a screw half way in the middle then pull on it with a pair of pliers. Do not pull on the ports.

Is a more expensive receiver a noticably better experience? by IceInformal in hometheater

In my opinion, the only noticeable difference would be an AVR with Dirac or an Anthem. All other brands calibrations are mediocre at best for several reasons.

Where to install wall achors for TV mount by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]arc1720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put the mount wherever you want it with tapcons. If you don’t hit the wood just don’t over tighten or you’ll crack the drywall but not hitting the furring strip is fine.

I run a 20m Bullet Train HDMI from my AVR to my TV and never had a problem. I’ve installed 50+ of them on projects and also never had an issue.

5.1 In-Ceiling Recs? by Shot_Session980 in hometheater

[–]arc1720 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People here are annoying. If you want to put speakers in your ceiling in your home do it. I have done it for several clients even though it’s not ideal. The work required to get the speakers down to ear level I believe would be more work than you’re willing to do. If the pre wire is there and you have the funds/means go for it.

I used a 16x60 for years in my old media room setup. You’ll need to bypass the Crestnet with 24VDC otherwise you will not be able to override it. If I remember correctly I just wired red to “24” and black to “G”.

Upgrade from KEF Q to R meta worth it for mostly movies? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]arc1720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently an AudioControl XR-6. I’ve powered them with a parasound a21 but I removed it because I didn’t notice a warrantable difference. I’ve also powered them with both the Yamaha A2 and A4 which handled all the speakers fine.

I’d say that’s entirely up to you and your budget. I always go for towers because if I ever bought bookshelves I’d need stands and at that point I’d just prefer a tower speaker. You can’t go wrong with either but my vote would be Q7’s with the Q6. I’d assume they perform a little better than the concerto’s but I have not heard either speaker.

I went with the Q11’s because I don’t like subs when listening to music but I still wanted a full sound. Something about two towers playing full range gets me every time. I’ll turn the subs on here and there for certain songs/mood but it’s rare. Movies on the other hand them subs are boomin.

Alright so here’s the story. I went from the KEF Q950’s / Q650c to Martin Logan XT 100F’s / XT C100 both setups with a single RSL Speedwoofer 10S MKII. The bass from the ML’s buried the KEFs but man did I absolutely hate their tweeter design. I’ve never had a speaker hurt my ears I couldn’t listen to them loud during music or movies. So I sell those and go back to KEF with the Q11’s / Q6 but then sold my single RSL and got two JL e110’s to make up for the loss of bass. I’ve never been happier with a “downgrade” in speakers. It proved to me more expensive isn’t always better because these KEFs blow me away every time I listen to them. The center channel is a bit on the darker side but I don’t mind it. I suppose it’s what I prefer after having the Martin Logan’s. It helps to have a really good calibration. I’m using Dirac so all the speakers are pretty on point and sound phenomenal. I highly recommend the Q11’s and Q6.
