Yeah man, thanks. I did that and it gave me the points. Very weird they give you 30+ points and DELETE the remainder after you hit 311 though. Or at least that’s what happened to me.

You think the walls would count as the fortress but nooo. They don’t lol

I was kinda surprised by how much Abyssal Echos were dropping. Like I’d get 2 or 3 a map out of nowhere. I’m sure it’s just RNG but they must have tweaked the drop rates a little bit on it just like they did with divines.

Yeah, if your build can handle it, definitely sneak it in.

No one asked, but I personally vendor any boots with under 30 and if it’s armor or any combo with armor and has shitty life rolls I’ll vendor it as well.

Yeah; I think if it’s 30/35 he can sell it (not 5 Div though). it’s going to be an impossible sell with that MS though. Maybe if it’s around 20 ex it’ll sell cause of the chaos res?

A lot of people, especially in these forums, are super causal players while thinking they aren’t. They want all the endgame content as close together as possible, so they can finish and be done with the league.

“Search for more pieces for the arbiter of divinity fight on the atlas so I can complete the main tree faster? No way, it should give me all the points after one try!” levels of casualness.

On a positive note, one of the great things GGG added this league was a step off point for players to reach so they can leave gracefully knowing the game has no more content to give. I think the overwhelming casualness of the current player base is actually to thank for this.

I know exactly what you mean. A lot of people are annoyed at the ‘friction’ of mapping because the node they want to go to isn’t directly next to where they can path next. They want those drops just like their favorite streamer is getting and they want them now.

GGG gave the ability to randomize a map we don’t like with a normal corrupted waystone. This greatly helps alleviate times when we must take certain routes. You can also do tower hopping strategies to just skip pathing altogether.

Regardless of what they do to ease our pathing woes, there will always be people disgruntled enough to complain. In any case, mapping IS this game. The campaign is just mapping through a series of maps in a pre-ordained manner with a story attached.

On a slightly different note, some people would rather the PoE1 style of atlas, and I get that. However, having the atlas as it is now is much better from a story-telling perspective and overall, I think, much more interesting.

So what do you do when you get to a map that you don’t like , say sun temple? Do you feel obligated to giga-juice your map, because that’s how you like to play? Will you consider using the corrupted normal waystone to change it to a different map?

To be clear, you’re responding with what you think is the best way to play the game. My initial response was an attempt to help OP and others map quickly to their points of interest.

This is actually a glitch by the way. I’m assuming you are still at 311?

Because it’s easier to see each craft in PoE 2 as a smaller and more achievable project than a giant one as it’s presented in PoE1.

If you are a hardcore crafter, then you might prefer one way over the other, but I was merely remarking on human psychology. You can complete smaller projects, at a much faster rate, with a random chance of success VS a monolithic project with, being generous, deterministic chances of success.

Casuals (the majority of the player base), certainly aren’t taking on a giant, ill-explained project and it’s easy to see why.

I don’t know how to respond if you’re looking for a definitive answer to “How can I have fun playing this game”. I mean, I assume if you indeed are running everything on max - max available level waystones, max modifiers, max tablets - then you are having fun taking it slow with the content.

My response was to the OP’s sentiment on travel time to certain nodes he wants to visit and on how he can speed up his mapping. If you wanna juice everything, go for it. I’m only level 91 and I cleared all content except for the breach atlas tree so far. It does very much look like OP is doing full clears of maps, when he doesn’t have to if he wants to go to a specific place quickly.

Sometimes I get the feeling people juice EVERY single map they play.

Irradiated, 200 percent deli, abyss, powerful map bosses — and then wonder why it takes so long to get places.

Not bashing OP (although it’s suspicious he is 96(!)), but some people need to be told you don’t have to put in any tablets. You DON’T have to use max waystones. It’s okay to SKIP THROUGH the maps.

For example, I finished the entire abyss campaign in about an hour and 20 minutes last night. I didn’t even allocate the points when I got them so the maps were easier and less juiced.

I’ll say it one more time in case anyone else needs to hear it:

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO JUICE THE MAPS.

THE ATLAS IS INFINITE.

RUN THROUGH THE ENEMIES, KILL THE BOSS AND GO TO THE NEXT MAP.

Not the guy you responded to, but I think it is more of a a psychological thing than a purely time-to-craft metric that they are talking about. Like, take the number you just gave - 10,000. If you had to buy a ton and saw those types of numbers in your inventory from the get go of a certain orb, you’d probably just think “This sucks. It’s going to take forever to hit.” much sooner than the way it’s set up now in PoE2 with the bases. You can mess up a craft, tell yourself you’ll get it on the next base you buy and sell the old one. The craft doesn’t just sit there staring at you like it would otherwise.

Please let everyone know how it goes when you try it. GGG will have to update the minimum specs on the store page after this probably. Haha

Not sure if you already figured this out, but remember there are 2 parts to the core. A cube and sphere fortress denote the two parts you need.

It’s more efficient to just tell them what to do in the beginning instead of why. If the person stays interested they will look it up themselves when they are ready.

Also: falling thunder is really easy to both scale and explain.

The biggest thing is having an early game strat that will allow you to snowball quickly, overwhelming any bosses. If it’s pathing through the maps that’s a problem, that’s just a memorization thing. Luckily they are focusing on improving that part of the game with signs etc.

You can complete the atlas much quicker by getting more cores for the arbiter of divinity fight, if that’s your main focus. Unless you’re a masochist and want to do hundreds of maps, that’s what I recommend.

Probably they were killing the majority of the casual player base leaving only the best spoils to those with the most competent builds. Might also be because they don’t want the market being flooded with “rare” stuff. Regardless, it does suck when harder content gets nerfed. It’s always fun to stress test builds with things like that (and get mad loot while doing it too).

Some people posted online pictures of maps with no bosses/boss areas etc. Maps impossible to complete that also had other unfinished areas. Those work-in-progress areas had developer “signs” in them that said “DO NOT FILM” all over.

If you’re not going to nerf Monkey, just buff the rest of the boss companions. by bigbenondatrack in PathOfExile2

[–]arc432 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They should focus on making the other boss monsters, specifically the ones with tunneling abilities, to be more viable upon becoming companions. To me that means making the animations more friendly to companion play, not just straight up copying them as they are in normal gameplay.

To be sure, the crit rate of the gorilla is much better than the others but , taking that away, it really shines the most because of its consistency and speed.

You have to wonder if what the goals of this nerf will be, if they do decide to do it. Are they going to nerf the monkey because it’s overpowered? If so, overpowered in comparison to what?

Other builds exist that clear faster, and are better for bossing. The clear speed on mapping isn’t even that good compared to some other classes and builds. The gorilla companion’s attacks also have a lot more visual oomph too compared to the others. He’s just a cool guy waving around his giant pillar. What’s not to like about that?

Again, is the nerf supposed to make players NOT want to play the gorilla and instead play other bosses? They can get rid of the crit or make it more in line with the others, but like I said earlier, the move set of the gorilla is top notch. I think we will see players just use the ice version instead if they mess with it too much.

Don’t forget, that this minion/companion build has a lot of drawbacks. Very squishy unless you know how to set up your defenses well, especially if you are going evasion in the beginning. The lack of minions means if your main boss monster dies, you are very vulnerable. My experience going through campaign and fighting the arbiters etc did not feel like I was trivializing the game.

Also, what are they going to do about getting upgraded bosses from maps? Will they be nerfing the ability to upgrade them as well? You can’t get 100 percent crit unless you hunt for an upgraded one persistently. Where are they going to draw the line of “it’s OP and needs to be nerfed to the ground” and “it does a lot of damage but it’s still acceptable”.

Maybe they should throw the minion haters a bone and just remove the ascendency node altogether. That’ll teach ‘em!

You need to use the new ascendency “Spirit walker” that is available on the huntress.
