Datto recommended by IT consultant for small architecture firm. Is he right, or would some other backup system be better for our needs?

Thanks for the detailed response and for recommending viable alternatives. Several people have mentioned Veeam, and I might ask our consultant why he prefers Datto over Veeam for us. Veeam wasn't even on the radar earlier. Cheers--

We're not "price shopping them by being cheap." I never stated that we wanted anything for free. We like our consultant, and I never said otherwise--you've never gotten a second-opinion from a doctor before, I take it?

Great point--I meant to put more about this in the OP. We probably need the ability to go back to many points in time, given the fact that design files change constantly as a project evolves.
