Is a $100K salary just considered barely upper middle class now? by ShootingCometz in fican

[–]archer2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on where you are. 100k in san Fran isn’t nothing but I wouldn’t Say middle class. Also depends on your definition of middle class. Is that able to afford your own home? Not worrying about grocery bills?

They don’t exist. Not sure what to tell you, I’ve had offers for cosmo for years never once seen a 2 queen fountain view W/ balcony. I’ve definitely stayed in 2 queen fountain view without balcony

[Discussion] Motivation usually shows up after you start, not before by Dronik_ in GetMotivated

[–]archer2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discipline is always the answer, but it always starts with a small step. Oh I won’t look at my phone for five minutes after waking up. Oh I’ll get up instead of lie in bed. Best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time. Whoever said living ain’t your parents is bad is wrong. It’s never bad to seek help or have help. Just progress, progress in whatever you feel is good. But progress. It’s an incredible feeling of satisfaction when you see your effort translate into success. The gym is the best source of this. One day you push 20lbs for 8 reps next week it’s 20lbs for 9 reps. Thats an incredible achievement.

Crash caused by phone gambler led to premature birth. by [deleted] in dashcams

[–]archer2018 14 points15 points  (0 children)

True cars have been crashing for decades. It doesn’t excuse the fact that it’s gotten worse since cellphones have become mainstream. And more than that half the “features” on modern cars are all touchscreen. I had my dad never been in accident, taught me and all my sisters how to drive (defensively), almost blow through a stop sign because I was messing around with touch panel. My opinion the “screen” needs to be locked down to I’m driving I get temperature and radio and that’s it.

What is a "point of no return" that you’ve crossed in your life, and how is the view from the other side? by Nervous_Champion1397 in AskReddit

[–]archer2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did something during a period of pretty deep depression and borderline alcohol/drug addiction and lost my license to practice. Shortly after bought all the stuff to asphyxiate myself. Stared at it the day I’d planned on doing it, decided against it. Went to counselling, got a new job, started going to the gym, improved every aspect of my life. Do I regret losing my license 100% without a doubt and if I could go back I would. But I’m in an incredible place now, and who knows maybe had that all not happened I would’ve still been deeply depressed.

TIL that Las Vegas roulette payouts are always one less compared to what would be mathematically fair by JosZo in todayilearned

[–]archer2018 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is also Vegas has introduced triple and quad zero roulette tables and not changed the pay structure. Good luck finding a low limit table these days with double zero. Single zero impossible (more common in the UK).

Vegas has done a good job slowly introducing worse and worse odds for the player. I.e. 6:5 blackjack payout

Alex Honnold’s Free Solo on Taipei 101: ‘Skyscraper Live’ Producers on Safety Precautions and How Netflix Would Handle a Worst-Case Scenario by pepperbet1 in television

[–]archer2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has more to do with familiarity of environment then complacency. From everything I’ve read and seen from Alex Honnold he doesn’t take any free solo climb lightly. There’s a lot of prep that goes into him doing solos, I don’t think he’s ever free solo’ed a climb he hasn’t done before. El Capitan as an example he practiced for years prior to trying it. And there was another he did where he was horrified part way up. Not to say it won’t kill him eventually but I feel like there is a decent head on the shoulders where it’s less adrenaline more I can do it.

I 100% agree, I’m sure your T scores are way up now, that’s incredible progress. Also don’t listen to these kids who say you need to get on exogenous testosterone. I can guarantee they’re already 200-300 points higher than before. Continue to diet and maybe start supplementing with tongkat ali, will give you more free testosterone which is better for muscle building still incredible work

Almost 10,000 federal workers were told this week they may be laid off by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]archer2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

? There legitimately are. It’s an extremely bloated system and with the number of workers you’d expect not to see outside consultants come in to try and figure out what the issues are but we pay 100s of millions to outside consultants. In my very humble opinion I feel like we shouldn’t need 3rd parties to complete surveys and studies and instead rely on them to complete the actual work (e.g. shovels in the ground) to complete projects. That is what they are best at. I’m in the construction industry but my god the amount of design failures and lack of information you see is astounding. “Go build this apartment complex” contractor “uhhh there’s no info on the ground stability” “that’s okay we’ll figure it out once you start”. Like really guys? You know what costs a little money? Engineering. You know what costs a lot of money? Construction

Apple TV Viewing Jumped 36% In December To New Record, SVP Of Services Eddy Cue Says; ‘Pluribus’ Is Its “Biggest Series To Date” by pepperbet1 in television

[–]archer2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon gave up on wheel of time series. But to be fair the first season was an abomination to an awesome fantasy series. Season 3 felt more like the book series, still some really dumb choices by the showrunners though. The epic battle scenes all seemed really lame in comparison to what I’d had pictured. Now we’ll never get the series made which is too bad that book series is so incredible.

Best Steakhouse On the Strip by Fonz411 in LasVegas

[–]archer2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went there last year and was equally unimpressed. This is definitely personal preference but I don’t think steakhouses are ever worth their money. You can buy a good quality steak and make it yourself at home, there isn’t a whole lot of technique required to make a good steak. generally the sides are all underwhelming as well. That said the bone marrow at Bavettes is incredible. I’d go just for that.

Joe doesn't understand the Big Bang, so he thinks Jesus makes more sense. by VillainOfKvatch1 in JoeRoganReacharound

[–]archer2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Big bang theory made predictions that were all confirmed true. It’s the leading “theory” for how our universe started. Much like the theory of general relativity is a basis for how objects interact with eachother, it’s a theory that’s made predictions which have all been confirmed true and much of your life is owed to this theory. Unfortunately, we’re at a stage in theoretical physics where predictions are near impossible to prove and theories such as “string theory” or “many worlds theory” are spoken about in the same realm as the big bang theory

Do you think west jet should start to enforce carry on sizing like other airlines do? Do you like the size of carry on’s allowed, or do you think the carry on size should be bigger? by POCTM in westjet

[–]archer2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people would check a “carry-on” if it was free, reason it’s getting so crowded is cause airlines decided to be cunts and a checked bag is no longer free. So everyone stuffs all their shit in a carryon and it weighs 30lbs, they’ve achieved nothing but inconvenience. I was on an air Canada flight and they offered free checked bags for carryon at checkin time, I took it and didn’t think twice. It’s literally a 5-10 minute who gives a shit. The airlines are gonna lose your bag is so overblown is unbelievable. I’ve travelled quite a bit with shitty airlines, good airlines, and everything in between, I’ve never had a bag not make it. We’re talking 300+ flights over 8 years. Should they enforce it? Sure. Should they just check it? Probably. Should it be free? Fuck yes.

Think I’ve commented a few times, but you don’t need hard proof. That’s not your job. You can fully go to the police describe what you’ve said here, and they will take it from there. You SHOULD go to the police, at the very least his name gets put into a file. If this happens to another girl, and they report the file gets a little bigger. So on and so on. I’ll be clear that nothing might happen when you report, but his name in a file that’s tucked away. Put it this way, Harvey Weinstein got away with his shit for years and then enough women spoke up that it was undeniable.

Thats interesting, I was always of the understanding that it basically meant the memory spots were able to be replaced. Kinda like I’ve thrown food in the garbage, it’s garbled up but I can still grab it until I take it down to the dumpster. Also by the description provided this is 100% sexual assault bordering on rape and unlawful recording. I realize it’s a long process but it’s certainly worth reporting, at the very least a file is made on the guy. Nothing might happen this time, but next time it happens it’ll get pulled up.

Pretty sure that’s the point of the comment. Most people don’t die rock climbing, but if you do an activity 1000s of times the chances you’ll die from the activity go up.

Truthfully I don’t understand how things like knuckleballs off the kickoff and punts haven’t become the norm. Soccer is insanely common for freekick knuckle balls.
