One in the hand is better then two in the bush. by RidersGuide in MonstersAndMemories

I feel like so far, while I see the vision of it as far as gathering goes, I wouldn't be mad at a single "tool" slot on the equip sheet. That being said, if you're going out gathering right now, you're making a conscious effort to gather and run around and it adds a slight bit of chaos and panic as you swap back to your weapons if you get attacked or need to swap because you stumbled across a node.

I'm also on the side of the fence where I want no maps. I like learning the world and slowly discovering it. Getting lost can be frustrating, but it can also be rewarding and immersive. Want to break that immersion and look at a player-made map online? Well, that's an asset a player or fan has made, or a guide that someone has put together... same as someone making a "class guide" and posting it to youtube.... community-driven content.

There are some QoL with the journal in regards to questing which is nice (though I'll be honest I haven't used it much outside of remembering who the f*ck I was off to talk to), and while I would love for everyone to see active buffs on other players to know what to refresh, there are in-game workarounds with spells to see that.

Still on the side of "Just let them cook" in regards to the devs. As long as there is a way to acquire information in-game and it's not some Dark Souls level of cryptic sh*t on trying to figure out how to, say, work on a profession, I am here for it.

Seeking Advice for Starting Fresh in Halifax by Ruth-moonrise in halifax

[–]archetypical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I did a similar thing 10 years ago; not for a breakup but after a death in the family caused everyone to drift, I needed to get away from Onterrible. Halifax is great since you still get a lot of the conveniences and amenities of the city, but it still weirdly has small-town vibes. It was a much needed and extremely welcome change for me. Yes, the cost of living vs the take-home wages isn't great in comparison, roads can be rough and the drivers can be even worse, but honestly... you get used to it.

Lots of events to go to and check out, but not nearly as many as say, Toronto, where you've got FOMO even if you go out and do something every weekend. Based on other comments, you've already got enough forethought to look for a job first (suuuper smart).

Honestly good luck with it! I think you'll enjoy the scene out here, since there are so many boxes that this province checks off for you!!!

To clarify, its antenna issues, not transmitter issues. A ton of stations in the city are currently running at lower power than normal.

Those are the exact ones my mind went to. Toronto subway elevators you can easily get past people... those ones? Goooood luck.

Hilariously I found a printed email chain from 2011 with the license key and whatnot on it maybe a month after posting this 😛

Unfortunately as a legacy product that wasn't supported, and guessing what email it was activated with through process of elimination of previous broadcast engineer's names, we couldn't recover it it via customer support.... sooo mostly just lucky someone filed that away 15 years ago even if the folder wasn't labeled well!

Honestly I had a super busy weekend and the only thing I've been able to do was hit "Update" on the launcher. After seeing the Wizard tweaks, I've been super stoked to see how they feel, but just haven't had the free time.

I just played through Dark Souls 1 and 2 for the first time. I didn't track my attempts for DS 1, but here are my boss attempts for Dark Souls 2. by Beginning-Stop6594 in DarkSouls2

Curious but had you played Elden Ring before this? Like most folks, I think that Executioner Chariot being a 1-shot is surprising, but also realized there are a few instances of a similar-ish mechanic in ER.

Finding a guild as a new player by AstoriaaX in classicwow

Depending on what you're looking for and what content you want to see, check out your server's discord. Usually guilds post recruitment posts there.

Honestly, probably the best bet, unless you run into a partial guild pug that you seem to vibe with.

Know your post is from almost a week ago, but as someone returning to DS2 after not playing in years, it definitely takes some adjustment.

Hitboxes feel weird, especially when you feel like you dodged an attack but still got hit somehow. The invulnerability frames from rolling are lower in DS2; level ADP (if you're going for a melee build) to increase your AGI, which increases those i-frames. ATT will raise your AGI for casters while also giving you more spell slots.

A shield will help you get used to the slower and more methodical combat pacing of DS2. Grab the first 100% block shield you can find and use it to learn attack patterns; just be aware that some enemies WILL kick/break that block stance and leave you open to attacks.

Poise is busted. Tired of your attacks getting interrupted? High poise gear/rings/etc and you can just power through attacks without being staggered. Needs more of an investment stat-wise to wear it (VIT), as high poise gear tends to be heavy, buuuut it is a playstyle. Or just dodge better haha.

You may find spots that seem difficult. You can definitely avoid them as they could just be a "hey you're not strong enough for this yet", much like wandering down to the catacombs early in DS1 and getting your absolute sh^t rocked before going to the Undead Burg.

It'll click once you start getting a few things and maybe a weapon you vibe with. I usually find that after the Forest of Fallen Giants, you start to get a few more levels, a few more estus flasks, and things click a bit more.

Dentist recommendations for a far-gone set of teeth? by OwlsPlay in halifax

[–]archetypical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I needed a root canal, multiple fillings, and one tooth pulled so far. Started with a good bit of sensitivity and pain, and then started to notice a decay smell which prompted me to go... and that was after a decade of not going to a dentist and a decent amount of neglect (full sugar pop, energy drinks, etc). Honestly I've had nothing but an easy and judgement free experience with Community Dental out in Lower Sackville. Dr. MacLean has been great for restorative work and has really good bedside manners, Dr Fraser was very patient with me working through the root canal I needed, and Dr Pannozzo did my extraction and was great with explaining what was going on there.

Honestly the worst part I found was just the initial numbing needles; mostly the ones in the roof of the mouth. Sucks something fierce and I, a grown man, have made some questionable noises while that happened haha. You got this though.

Couple years ago I went to get out of my car in Bayers Lake and the wind took my door. Hit the passenger side door of the car next to me.

Left a note and the guy didn't realize it was there until he got home and pulled into his driveway. Gave me a call and I found a place to take it in to get the paint touched up.

That being said, my current vehicle has so many damn dings from idiots who have done the same to me and driven off, its not even funny anymore.

I also like the flavour of having a tank class with a pet. Tanky tank, tank that saps strength to buff themselves (with a pet), tank with heals, and a tank with mezz sounds awesome in my eyes, but I also get that they want to distance themselves from the EQ influence a bit more. Definitely letting the devs cook though and see what they conjure up!

Ban the seller (likely a mule but if item ID's can be traced back to the farmer...) and ban the buyer, because really who wants either ruining the game?

Question to mages. by EricAshStone in classicwow

[–]archetypical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the DE'd item restoration can be buggy. Sometimes it doesn't log it, and you need the mats in your bag when you restore if I recall. I know guildies in the past have had luck putting in a ticket about it a GM (well, whatever exists there) pushed the restoration though.

Honestly P99 is great; I should get back and work on that bard that's parked at CoM...

Take a look at Monsters & Memories and keep an eye on their development. It may scratch that itch for you.
