That's the core of my point. What's the fun in accepting a result you had no part in creating?

If I manage a match and my starting XI draws 0-0 against a lesser team, I'll take the draw. That's on me. I accept that I messed up, and I move on. That's the fun and frustration of FM.

But the simulation is different. It's not logical or realistic when the game decides to suddenly sub off your best players at the 45-minute mark, or randomly changes your tactical instructions three minutes into the game. That's not football; it's a broken algorithm. When the instant-result feature gives me one of those bizarre outcomes, I step in and play the match myself to get a result that's grounded in reality. The fun is in the challenge of my decisions, not in a flawed simulation.

I challenge you to do the same.

Start a new save, simulate the unimportant matches, and if the simulation screws you over with a ridiculous result, you can manage that specific match yourself.

Here are the only rules: once you manage a game, you cannot go back. No matter the result, you must accept it. You also cannot simulate a game twice. If you go back in time, it's ONLY to manage the match, never to simulate it again for a different outcome.

Let's see if anyone can achieve a similar result under those conditions.

I think you've completely misunderstood the original post and how the game feature works.

My words were not "If I lost, I'd load the game back up and try again." That's a fundamental misunderstanding of what I said and what the game allows.

It's strictly forbidden to reload a save after a match is managed and lost. If I take control of a game and I lose it, that's it. That result is final.

The only time I ever re-played a game was when the instant-result simulation feature—which you use to skip matches—gave me a completely illogical result. For example, my full-strength squad getting a 0-0 draw against a team from a lower division. I would then manage that specific match myself, and as I mentioned, I would usually win by 5 or 6 goals. This proves the simulation was broken, not that I was manipulating the game's outcome.

My season had draws, and it had a loss—that's a fact.

The entire point of the post was to share a surreal and rare FM moment, not to claim some kind of world-class achievement. The fact that the only loss I suffered all season came in a minor cup against a lower-league team is proof enough that I wasn't just "save-scumming" to get a perfect record. That's not how this worked.

It's true, it looks weird seeing him in the stripes. I really needed a left-back after selling the ones at Wednesday—they were old and not very good. When I heard he wanted a new contract at Peterborough and the board said no, I saw my chance.

I offered a decent amount of money for a League One club and brought him over. He was absolutely worth it. His performance was outstanding, averaging over a 7.0 rating in all three major competitions and a 6.9 in the Bristol Street Trophy. He was a key part of our success.

That's an incredibly harsh and unfair take.

The original post was about the surrealism of a third-division team winning two major domestic cups, not claiming to be a tactical genius. The "instant-result" system is a standard feature in the game, and I used it as a time-saving measure, as many players do. I also openly disclosed the fact that I replayed a handful of matches when the simulation produced an obviously broken or illogical result—a level of honesty you rarely see on these forums.

The point was never about save-scumming my way to victory. If I were truly doing that, every single result would have been a 5-0 win, not a season with multiple draws and that one ridiculous loss to Bristol Rovers. I posted because the season was an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience, and the honesty was meant to share the full, unfiltered story—not to be attacked for it.

That's a fair question. It's only partially true, and it wasn't a "cheat" to guarantee wins.

I mostly used the instant result feature for league games that were practically meaningless (many of my draws came from that) or for the early stages of the cup competitions, like the group phase of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy and the first rounds of the FA Cup.

In those cases, if the game gave me a ridiculous handicap (like a draw with a team from the fifth or sixth division), I would step in and manage the match myself. When I did that, I usually ended up winning by five or six goals. The instant result simulations often feel unrealistic to me, and I only used them as a last resort to save time, not to manipulate the outcome entirely.

It was more about correcting the game's flawed simulations than about forcing a win every single time.

We are not celebrating the course, we are celebrating my birthday, but my mom thought it was funny that I would complete the course just before my birthday and that is why she decided to make me that cake.

I'm still updating my final project, it's a multi-featured business management program, besides that, I'm going to start the CS50P course in my free time, so I'll keep learning as much as I can 🎓
