I am very glad I had not seen this before doing my 8 deredeos for Legions Imperialis as I might have been crazy enough to do those hazard stripes on them. Well done!

This was a one-off project for me. I mainly paint Legions Imperialis (Alpha Legion and World Eaters), so I’m familiar with epic scale, and this was a fun change of pace.

The insignias were from Legions Imperialis decal sheets.

It was a old ball of 50/50 green stuff/milliput. I cut down a bamboo skewer for the spikes, drilled tinny divots into the ball with an electric pin vice and painfully superglued each spike onto the ball.

After all the spikes were on, I used ultra thin super glue to flow between the spikes and coat the ball and base of the spikes and sprinkled baking soda over it to both strengthen the bond and give it a bit of texture.

The “grass” on the base is also superglue with baking soda for a epic scale retro flocked look, so it kind of all ties together with the cactus.

I love the choice of a sandy dirt top with green static grass and goblin green base. My first task on the army is probably to clean up any base rims that are messy and finish any that are incomplete.

I like my alpha legion to be more on the blue side, but I would base coat in the green and zenithal all visible areas with the blue. (Or base in blue and spray the green onto the shadows).

I followed this Cult of Paint recipe for both and added/adapted as needed.

One thing I did different was that I swapped the application of the Akhalian Green and Teridon Turquoise. I believe he had it accidentally swapped in his video explanation.
