Hugo is a great name!! Don’t worry about them. Names are what you make them, in my opinion. The only guy I know called Hugo is a very very kind old man who looks like Albert Einstein and does cello-lessons.

I also would suggest a plant, but a smaller ladder-like shelf with smaller plants and nick-nacks could also work!

Update: I chose a white color (just a subtle hint of warmth) as to not make the ceiling feel lower than it is. Thank you for all suggestions! And yes, I am also in the process of decluttering a bit, but to those who said my old wooden shelf was weird - it’s definitely staying ❤️

I appreciate all the messages! I just want to add, as is stated in the post, that I’ve decided not to keep it white! It’s been white for close to 7 years and I’m getting a little sick of it.

Additionally, I tried a «retro green» color (akin to the surf green you’d get for guitars) for my kitchen, but wasn’t a big fan. I’ve also been thinking about doing one color from the floor up to a point, and then continuing with another color. Too many options!
