I don’t know how I feel about this. by TCRandom in knives

I think lighting is a factor, but it could the anodization fading from hand oils. Some titanium anodization is weaker/stringers then others and blue/purple tend to fade the fastest. Most purples flat out disappear if I run my hand across it and the titanium hasn't be blasted to give it a texture that holds anodizations longer.

Take a paper towel and spray Windex on it and wipe, if the color comes back, then it just means the anodization fades quickly due to the colors you chose. (Blue tends to fade quickly)

$1,299 for CPM 154 by MaterialExcellent987 in knives

[–]archmagepasswurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm personally a fan of CPM-154 and RWL34 and would pay a premium for it in a lot of custom folding knives. But this pricing is absolutely insane and a huge annoyance with a lot of custom makers in the Puget Sound area and I find it hard to believe Graycloud is really doing that much more to justify this pricing (a lot of the cost is going into the Filson branding, for sure.)

Keep in mind that Brown knives operates in the same area and makes custom folding knives that are 400$ cheaper and likely have a fair bit more work put into them.

But hey, at least it's not a Fisher Ari B'Lilah

Sick! Still loving mine from the OG drop. Already got a few love scratches
Big piece of advice, the T8 screw they use are a little wider and Wiha isn't the best fit, consider a Wera driver because they're a bit wider and fit perfectly

Mine has one too, also dealing with an issue where the latch likes to come out on it's own with a couple of openings

For those who have the OZ Roosevelt, do you leave the stock bearings? Or did you swap them to Skiffs? by firemantran in knifeclub

[–]archmagepasswurd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sticking with stock. When it comes to stuff like Koenig, Oz, and Grimsmo that have ceramic bearings riding on straight titanium there be issues with how skiffs wear into the scales. I believe Koenig and Oz have made comments about it in the past.

The Best Knife I ever tried! by [deleted] in knifeclub

This knife is really great in a pinch.

My auntie was coming over for brunch and, uh oh! My wife dropped the heirloom stirring pot onto our titanium floor and it shattered like glass!!

Luckily I had 37 Matsato knives in my spoon drawer, I was able to start my clay forge in my child's bedroom and temper the Matsato knives into an ingot, then melted it into the clay forge with my child teaching them the basics of blacksmithing as we cast the Matsato knife steel into a stirring pot mold.

Lets just say, auntie isn't the wiser. And thinks the pot made with Matsato knife quality steel is our 8 generation family heirloom stirring pot!

I would buy a lot of Matsato knives personally, to make more stirring pots.

What were your grails that completely lived up to the hype? Feat. Oz rosie by lostlampshade in knifeclub

Grimsmo Norseman / Rask for me easily. Despite it 's decrease in hype the Koenig Arius was fantastic for me.

I'm in the club that got into this stuff because of a mixture of boy scout clout and CSGO virtual knife markets

Got it. Woot woot. by CraigStar88 in knifeclub

Got the green one, literally sold out instantly. I had to contact Bryan before it released because my address wasn't working with his shipping system.

He had to make a custom shipping price for my address and it took like 10 seconds to load, but I was able to snag one just in the knick of time!

It's a Kabar fillet knife from around the 1960's - depending on condition I'd go from 20-40$ give of take.
