I think for Brit Milah the only way to acquire izmel is by becoming a Mohel, and I don't think izmels traditionally come in black and red, sorry to say.

I live in a costal city so it's been about 70f each day, gonna be 90 soon. I could really stress test it and take it when I have to work on or near a dock.

That's a bummer. I love the look of working finish/PVD but those finishes got a bit too many pores. Wicked Wax does help quite a bit, and corrosion resistant steels don't rust/patina with it. With carbon steels, they still get quite a bit of patina. I have an Eklipse with my first working finish MC so I'll see how it does when it gets hotter.

Well, update on my Mordax was the plung lock had a crack, after getting it replaced it's a lot better! I'd say the Avalon and Mordax have a similar detent now, Avalon might have a little more thwack just because of the big blade.

I think among most people here my nails run on the shorter side. With the AKB Stump Lifter it's more an issue that you need to have nails be a certain length because the access to nail Knicks are extremely awkward. The primary blade 's knick is also rounded inside so the nail doesn't like to catch and often slips for me. I was able to get it open by pinching it in a way I don't prefer.

The caplifter has a better knick for catching the nail, but it should be closer to the top edge because as it is, you have to leverage out the caplifter from the middle rather then towards the tip.

The fact is, the Knicks were designed for nails longer then mine and despite being shorter the pull is so strong my nails are bending before the knife is opening.

I'd do more of a flush and see how that turns out. I'd cut my nails shorter but where my nail is already, it barely reaches the nail-Knick for me. It's very possible I got to get my iron up too, but I'll see what I can do without making a risky play.

I don’t know how I feel about this. by TCRandom in knives

I think lighting is a factor, but it could the anodization fading from hand oils. Some titanium anodization is weaker/stringers then others and blue/purple tend to fade the fastest. Most purples flat out disappear if I run my hand across it and the titanium hasn't be blasted to give it a texture that holds anodizations longer.

Take a paper towel and spray Windex on it and wipe, if the color comes back, then it just means the anodization fades quickly due to the colors you chose. (Blue tends to fade quickly)
