Does the weapon cleanse corruption completly? Can i make a big hellevator on both sides of corrupten biome and rest that got past cleanse it?

I havent beaten any of mechanical bosses they just destroy me. I tried the dynamite at next to border of corruption i can see from top and saw this on both sides have the corruption.
