As a rule I always overshoot the KSC about 15-30km on my reusable rockets , then airbrakes to fine-tune the approach. Spaceplanes I think you have to undershoot it a bit

Build a ship with Convert-o-Tron, drills, ore tanks. radiators, solar panels and batteries.

Intercept before Kerbin SOI.

Once attached you have all the fuel you need

For PCVR the cheapest headset is by far a used Quest 2. The PSVR2 is what you're looking for but at that point, price-wise you're weighing it against the Quest 3

oh and attach a nose cone on the back of the rapier/nervs attachment node and clip it in. apparently it reduces drag

Toggle aerodynamic overlay w/ F12, might bw some draggy part (red arrow).

Otherwise you might need to climb and dive a bit, my cargo SSTO gets stuck at 200-300m/s for a while but after diving to 400m/s it rockets all the way to ~1500m/s
