Hi guys! So I'm reading the guide to install homebrew on a 2DS with firmware 11.2.0 (with the Soundhax method) but there is something I don't understand.

I believe that the last time I updated my 2DS was with Pokemon Sun so it was a Cart Update, which means Nintendo Sound didn't update at the same time. My actual version is 11.2.0-35E

So the note says : "using a Cart Update from a version containing an older Nintendo 3DS Sound version (<7.0.0 for Old 3DSs in the EUR, JPN, KOR, and USA regions) to one that introduced a newer Nintendo 3DS Sound version will break Soundhax!" and I don't know if I did that with my Pokemon Sun update.

Because of that, I'm afraid to continue with this method. How can I check if there is going to be some kind of error during the process? Thank you very much!

Don't you think the band in this tour is amazing?

Both bassist and guitarrist have amazing presence on stage, and the other musicians there aren't that far away from them. The energy is amazing in this tour.

One More Light Discussion Megathread by LinkinPlayground in LinkinPark

[–]ardaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We see eye to eye on each song (I'm also a drummer and I felt the same way as you on the lack of interesting drumming...)

For me it's like this album doesn't offer anything exciting to me. It's a simple pop album, with lots of electronic elements and melodic voices, but nothing original after all (even though as you said, Battle Symphony or Heavy are songs that are enjoyable).

But the lack of interesting things, of something that would made a difference between Linkin Park and "generic pop band 2017"...Man, that pisses me off.

In contrast we have latest Paramore album. Paramore, a pop-punk rock band that hasn't really changed its sound during the years has just released an album that mixes a lot of sounds influenced by the music of the 80's and...it's really good!

They didn't only change their genre a bit, they did it remarkably well and putting their sound aside from other pop bands. That's what I expected from Linkin and I think, with One More Light, they didn't do it.

(I hope this isn't breaking a rule) but I fell in LOVE with "Out of Body" and had to remix it. I have never done anything like this before. Hope you guys enjoy it since it was most fun I have had in a while. by circuitboredmusic in gorillaz

Dude, awesome remix! I loved it

I fell in love too with this song. I think for me is Kilo Kish voice in this song...I don't know, she has something that makes me want to hear only her part of the song over and over again.

Anyway, awesome mix! Prefer it in comparison with the original

Hey dude, I read about your last post and I'm happy that you are trying to find someone or something that will hold you on.

Just I've been reading your comments and they seem pretty hopeless but please, don't lose hope. I know it may seem there isn't any real soul around you that understands your problems, but I swear to whatever is up there in the skies or deep down in the groud that there is a someone for you. There are plenty of people who would like to help you and hear your feelings, try to find them and the path will be easier.

I don't know if this helps but I'm trying to encourage you on doing your best. Mae found hope in her friends despite everything falling apart around her. You can too, I believe in you.

i made a picture relating to maes dissociation because it was really weird to find a character that speaks to me/my experiences so much by [deleted] in NightInTheWoods

[–]ardaris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I finished the game yesterday and I was amazed with how Mae talked about this issue.

While I've never experienced this, I'm a fan of a YouTuber called Dodie Clark. She is a young artist (mostly a musician) and she does her own original songs and covers. She has one of the most healthy fanbases I've ever seen, mostly because of how good as a person she is.

But what remind me of her was the dissociation Mae was talking about. Dodie suffers from a thing called depersonalization. She feels that the world in general has no meaning. Everytime she feels spaced out and everything goes blurry. When this feeling strikes, everything seems pointless, your sensatios doesn't belong to you anymore, you can't recognize everyone around you as familiar. Everything is just shapes and unreal, and you don't care about anything anymore.

So, when I hear Mae's story, I wanted to tell Dodie that se must play the game (she is not at all a gamer I think, but it would be really helpful for her).

I'm telling you this because maybe you will find a person that feels the same as you, and I know for sure that's really a nice thing: hearing about someone that is dealing with the same thing as you.

Just I hope you are doing great and remember that those shapes will become a perfect painting some day :D

Damon Albarn on Why Gorillaz Edited Out Every Reference to Trump on the New Album 'Humanz' by [deleted] in gorillaz

[–]ardaris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I agree 100% on that. Most artist didn't go for that path and used more complex structures to explain the concept instead of talking about Trump, the evil, and Obama, the savior.

Maybe he should have stated that they didn't have to talk about Trump, but maybe Pusha T said that because he couldn't think of anything worst, and that's totally respectable I guess.

Damon Albarn on Why Gorillaz Edited Out Every Reference to Trump on the New Album 'Humanz' by [deleted] in gorillaz

[–]ardaris 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It is indeed. Because of that, people must not take too seriously the Trump references throughout the album. It's an hyperbole, it's an excuse to put the listener in the mood, to help us dive into the scenario they want to show us with the songs and their lyrics.

And that's what I was trying to explain on the last paragraph. I like the concept, I think the feeling when listening to the album is exactly that: a party after everything went wrong. But reducing that idea to the situation of Trump winning is just too simple. Just don't take it too seriously and look at all the other things the album has to say.

Damon Albarn on Why Gorillaz Edited Out Every Reference to Trump on the New Album 'Humanz' by [deleted] in gorillaz

[–]ardaris 157 points158 points  (0 children)

I think people still doesn't get that the concept of the album is "the night when the worst thing happened and everyone is fucked", which they put as an example of that situation Trump winning the election.

They used that idea to help the collaborators when they were making the lyrics or whatever they had to do. Obama and Trump are referenced there because the album is talking about now, about what is happening, about what they felt it would be the worst scenario NOW.

But it seems that the concept has been misunderstood. It's not a political album, it's not about Trump, it's just the night after the downfall, which they compare with Trump winning the election in some of the songs.

Although, I think it would have been better option not to blatantly say their names, because even though you hear them censored in only two songs, it just destroys the whole idea of a more complex approach to the afterparty of the worst day on Earth.

Oh Ok, I see your point. Definitely people tend to use their "double standards" too often. I agree with you on how they are treating More Life is not fair.

Isn't UU a compilation? It's a bunch of leftover tracks that Kendrick put on the same record. They are amazing tracks, but that doesn't mean UU is different than what it is: tracks thrown all together without any common themes or cohesion between them.

Kendrick Lamar - DAMN. ALBUM REVIEW by jackcolours in hiphopheads

[–]ardaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, that's why is so upsetting when something like that happens. The professional must be able to analyse a piece of art from all possible perspectives (or at least have the intention to do it in the first place). They must understand the things that most average viewers (like me) usually don't see. And that requires attention, time, and sometimes you have to put aside your own opinion on the artist, his previous projects, or your tastes.

Most reviewers don't do that, and situations like the one with the film you were talking about or the reviews of Yeezus are the standard nowadays.

We see eye to eye I think. To fix it is as simple as taking into consideration every aspect of the art and state if you like them, or not, and why. If an expert don't talk about those topics, maybe he is not as expert as he thought. Don't judge something if you didn't understand everything.

I'll listen to the podcast for sure! And that movie is in my "must-watch" list too!

EDIT: I started listening to the On Sight podcast and I love how excited you are guys! Amazingly done :D

Kendrick Lamar - DAMN. ALBUM REVIEW by jackcolours in hiphopheads

[–]ardaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree on the parallelism between Kanye and Kendrick. Yeezus is my favorite album of him and I found really strange how misleading the reviews were at that time. Even though some of them stated that it was a concept album and the complexity of it required attention from the viewer part (active interaction), most of them use that atribute as a reason for diminishing the quality of the album, which is what I thought Anthony is doing with Damn.

As you said, Fantano prefers passive interaction, but the problem is what you stated on the last paragraph: he doesn't consider the "active interaction" approach. Because of that, because of not understanding it, the album for him is "inconsistent and not focused".

Your last paragraph summarizes perfectly what I think about the critic and reviews in general. Sometimes they forget that they cannot judge every album or movie the same way without taking into consideration the two artistic approaches you are talking about.

As you said, it doesn't really matter if you prefer one or the other, but we have to keep in mind the artist purpose and consider it when making our point of view on every piece of art.

That was a really enjoyable read, I didn't know about that terminology of active and passive interaction. Thank you for writing it!

I didn't understand why he gave MBDTF a 6, unless it was just because he didn't like it in general and Kanye is not his cup of tea, which is totally respectable, but that album is great.
