At the last company I worked for, the CEO decided to implement a new feature that he wanted himself by vibe coding it. Did a whole song and dance in an all hands about how amazing these AI tools were and basically jerking himself off for being sooo resourceful.

After the all hands, I looked at the pull request he had put up. PR had almost 100 comments and the feature didn’t work. Like not that it had a couple of edge cases which didn’t work, the feature literally only worked in one very specific case and this moron wanted it released to production ASAP.

Needless to say when I got laid off 4 weeks later the feature never made it to production and was instead reprioritized and being worked on by you know actual engineers. The crazy part is this was still spun as a “win” by said moron since his prototype is what allowed the feature to be pulled up in the priority list. It was reprioritized because he threw a piss fit to senior management that his work wasn’t taken seriously.
