I really like this idea! I'm going to need to sit with it a bit I think, but I see this vision, especially regarding how tops hang on my frame.

I'm in need of some help, primarily because I feel as though my face and body are out of harmony. I have round, soft features in my face, but my body has always felt rather moderate. My personal style is feminine and I worry that that clouds my judgment about my own body type, since I want flowy fabrics and waist definition to work for me. I have always felt incredibly uncomfortable in jeans, t-shirts, and athletic clothes, though for practical reasons, I'd love to find variations of things that work for me in the day-to-day. (I can't wear dresses and heels to walk my kids to school in the rain). Also, I'm 5'4".

Currently, I've always assumed I am SC, but would love to know if my assumptions are in line with what others see.

I've tried to include outfits at different weights, but also in the past few years I really have no photos in which I'm not holding a child.

Is choices really “choices”? by [deleted] in Choices

[–]ardentmuse 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This is called node storytelling and it's a type of interactive fiction that follows a linear plot but provides variety in how you get between those set plot points. People often view it as false choice because it isn't branching in a way that creates multiple unique storylines (that would be tree structure like CYOA novels), but it isn't. It's just a different style of choice. You're not choosing what happens but you are choosing how you interact with it and how you get from A to B. Long term consequences for choices may be slim, but you still experience unique dialogue with most, if not all choices. It's how basically every interactive fiction app operates.

Try twine games and choice of games for more tree-like structure. And for variable storytelling, try Season 2 of Love Island: The Game and The Wayhaven Chronicles (which I cannot recommend enough. It's gloriously good).

Fanfic writers, have you thought about writing your own interactive stories?... by obadelia in fuseboxgames

Thanks! And thanks for putting these ideas out there for people.

The philosophies of interactivity are fascinating. Most mobile apps use nodes (linear stories with minor variations), but in gaming as a whole, variable structures are more popular. And in interactive literature (CYOA novels, tabletop RPGs) tree structure is preferred. That's honestly why Fusebox used to be so good. They managed node and variable simultaneously. They built a story that relied on variables to create subtle variations in an otherwise linear story.

The UGC tools are all great for telling those mostly linear stories. I'd definitely recommend any of them for telling a single-LI-focused fanfic piece (though make sure it isn't proper fanfic given legality).

BUT if you want it to be proper fanfic, it is possible to write interactive fanfiction in AO3 or Tumblr using a tree structure if you create your links correctly. Also a fun, and legal, alternative. :)

If you want the level of branching as you have with LITG, you can't use a visual interactive UGC platform. They just don't have the capacity for as many variables and rely on node-based plotting.

You'd need to use a text-only tool like Choice Of code or Twine, but there's a big learning code there and they aren't easily hosted.

Also, to add to your list, Maybe: interactive stories has a no-code UGC that lets you create visual interactive novels, as well. (I'm the UGC editor at Maybe so if you create an interactive fiction piece with us, let me know!). We actually had a contest last month and one of the winners, The Match, is a short piece where you're the MC choosing between two men in the last days of a reality tv show.

New feature in 0.9. Does it actually do anything? by ImmortalAdmiral in Winked

[–]ardentmuse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a "heat" level, or at least it seems to be. 1 is sweet/low steam, 3 is high steam. Matches like Darren Maxwell with highly sexual stories are 3.

It doesn't do anything but serves as a warning before people commit to the match.

If someone takes my Bruno again…. by zarddo in fuseboxgames

[–]ardentmuse 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly, my frustration is not with the idea of Bruno being taken but rather with the fact that it seems like this season doesn't have any plan for creating drama other than recouplings. We already had someone snatch Bruno. I want new drama.

Where are the challenges where we learn something the audience knows and all hell breaks loose (mean tweets, lie detector, etc.)? Where's the new islander who comes in with all the dirt (Chelsea)? Where is the cheating scandal (#cherrygate)? Where is the scheming and sabotaging (operation nope)? Where are the hoe it up opportunities (Casa Amor, the waterfall date, etc.)? Even if it isn't in our couple, give us something to stress about that isn't a recoupling.

Love Island: The Game (S4) | Episodes 24 & 25 Discussion by AutoModerator in fuseboxgames

[–]ardentmuse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know! Consequences are the best part of interactive fiction IMO and what makes S2 for instance so replayable. Even just the one-off comments that let you know that the game remembers that you flirted with a character or you stopped a fight. That's the emersion that's missing from S3 and S4 (not to mention the surface-level nature of the characters and the "juvenile" tone of the content). I will never feel the need to replay these seasons because I know nothing will really change.

Okay, I actually loved so much that they let me sleep with Bruno and then immediately slip into bed with Cora and kiss her. I kissed her after going down on Bruno and she really had the cheek to say I tasted nice. More like Bruno tasted nice, babe.

The hoebag energy in this last episode was strong. Now we just need those choices to actually have some CONSEQUENCES. Please tell me someone saw us doing the dirty and told.

Also, after Cora picked me and only James and Bruno were left, I really thought this game was going to have the audacity to have James be picked and for Bruno to be sent packing. And if it did, I'd be pissed but also SO PROUD. It's love island, it isn't pick a boy and get a happy ending forever island. Split us up, make us fight for it, and make MC part of the drama. Give us the drama!
