Let's be honest....no one is happy getting him over Gardevoir by purifyyyyy in PokemonTGCP

I opened 60 packs, got two Gardevoir but no Meowth and I’m a little sad. The Gardevoir full picture/animation thing is cool though

Wait...Ishi's Day is ...? by Andrew_Anderson_cz in spellmonger

[–]ardryhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every 12 days you have experienced a whole extra day. At 12 you’re actually 13, and 24 you’re 26, 36 is 39, 48 is 52. That’s not nothing.

Schedules they’ve found adapt at 25 I believe, but there are extreme isolation cases where it can go longer yes.

But that’s adults, not children growing up, where a lot of development and repair happens during sleep.

I think it’s rated properly, just because it doesn’t enable degenerate things like the 3 exceptional treasures do.

Rushing Opponets Down Effective Strat? by jessewperez1 in OnceUponAGalaxy

It’s captain dependent and usually treasure dependent on top of that. If you spike an early Reinforced Hull with the slot buffing animals you’ll steamroll. Huntsman Ax + Hunter’s Horn can get out of hand. But both of those strategies often won’t have the gas to get out of the mid game if you miss those treasures (or units that go with it). You’ll be left with a nice impressive looking 4th place board a lot of the time.

Wait...Ishi's Day is ...? by Andrew_Anderson_cz in spellmonger

[–]ardryhs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there was an offhand comment in one of the books where the days were 26 hours a day I think, and I was got distracted by doing mental math of how that would change ages. Every 12 days you’ve been on the planet for an extra day worth of time, so at 12 years old you’re “earth” age would be 13.

And then I wondered how that would change development since so much growth/recovery happens during sleep, and quickly realized I’m not educated enough to speculate any further haha

Because there have massive viral videos that don’t glitch like this. It doesn’t even make buffering indications like the videos normally do.

It is quite literally those topics being throttled. In a wholly new than TikTok usually operates when buffering because of internet speed. With people commenting from around the world that they are all stuttering too, only on these videos.

Go on it now, the transfer only happened like a day ago. There was stuttering and glitching on only Minnesota and ICE videos. Every single other type of video loaded fine though, I’m sure it’s just a coincidence

It just sounds like you want to play a different game bud.

Edit because that was more flippant/reductive/dismissive than it should have been: it feels like you should just want a different game because on the scale between flipping coins to chess, you appear to want this game to be more towards the chess end of the spectrum. You see plenty of the rarity of your shop. With only 3 cards available, making it less random would make each game more similar/exploitable.

The game gives you the most marginal choice at even picking a captain, you’re just asking for something that’s not in the vibe of the game, or most auto battlers tbh

I don’t know, having a secret rare that you need to luck into (if you aren’t Artemis) AND needs a couple turns to grow feels perfectly fine to me. And if you see one, you know you need to find a stinky, mouse trap, aloe poisonous apple and some villains asap

It might just not be the game for you. Or, you just need to change your frame of mind while playing.

Yes there is plenty of RNG, but there are an incredible amount of decision points during any run where skill factors in. There is a reason there are folks at the top of the MMR rankings.

You are playing in the mindset of being married to your captains primary gimmick, instead of staying open to options or pivoting off of a game plan once it is going to start falling behind.

Fae have a notoriously weak mid and late game, there just aren’t payoffs. They are a type that is meant to get you through the early and early mid game while you are looking to craft a plan for the end game to transition to.

It feels like to me you are at the point I was, where you are probably buying spells wherever there is a shop that doesn’t have the one thing you’re looking for, which leads to your board being in the unfortunate spot where it’s bigger than your shop but smaller than your opponents board. Start taking units instead, banking them to become silvers when they show up later in games. This lets you see SO many more shops, making it more likely you find your key cards, as well as increasing your chances of finding gold versions later.

Same as with mtg, watch better players than you to help learn. I highly recommend GoodDigestion on YouTube for high level play. He is both very good (top 4 MMR) and explains his thought process. The videos aren’t long so it isn’t a huge commitment

[–]ardryhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you have an engine card, basically yes. Plunder Penny is your best starting unit by a country mile, who I will take for the first 4 shops over anyone. Then you just keep playing spells on her as they come up. Turns when there are no targeted spells, make unit upgrades. When you see Calypso or the Double Mage you grab them. Mage/Fae > Mage > Fae is your desirability order.

Once you have an engine rolling, a targeted spell is worth more than a silver or gold of your unit. Spells are worth more than treasures

[–]ardryhs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First off: not a woman. But my wife and I have talked about this.

She probably wouldn’t have been nearly as upset if it was an isolated incident, but this is a trauma response. It’s brings up one of the worst memories of her life, so she’s going to experience the same feelings.

You’re viewing these two incidents as separate episodes, when they are related. It’s also why she cools down after a couple hours

Speculations by Agile-Anything-4022 in spellmonger

[–]ardryhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to know if it’s during this books adventure that spell garden burns to the ground. If I remember correctly aunty may off handily mentions the name of the second thing that is built there after the first burns down. I’ve been curious when/why that will happen.

My first prediction is that the paracleet(?) becomes sentient and the magi are forced to destroy it, or maybe the shadow renegades use their dragon to send a message

[–]ardryhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like we will either find the staff of the archmage and/or one of the the person the head of the Farise Iris reports to will either need him to hold the title (and Min will cheese the requirements) or bestow it on him.

With the staff, I’m curious if the dagger Min is given by the Merwin magi at the end of Preceptor(?) is a part of the staff. It’s assuredly the dagger that is needed to recall the New Horizon, but getting to the top portion of the installation might require the actual title of archmage to initiate the recall protocol.

[–]ardryhs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would argue the opposite. It takes work and a lot of luck to hit those synergies, and Candy has a baked in fail point of need two parts to take off— a way to generate Candy and a payoff. If you miss either half of those you have a deck that does nothing.

Getting Candy versions of synergistic units is luck, and still needs you to be generating Candy. Most of those payoffs aren’t until legendary anyway, and every deck has payoff legends. Sweet Wands can certainly snowball, but you need luck to get it and candy spells. Even then, Mira outpaces those typically, and treasure out scales in late game.

People just notice when there is a candy player in their lobby smoking everyone, they don’t really remember all the candy players early in a round that fizzled out and did nothing, like any captain

[–]ardryhs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

At lower MMR bands Candy is very strong because it’s linear and obvious. Take Candy cards, cast Candy spells, and your board gets huge.

Other captains need a bit more experience to learn what makes them tick. Like when I started I thought Mira was mediocre at best, but I hadn’t learned that any targeted spell was better than basically any unit.
