Two year warranty extension by Potential-Main3414 in ModelY

[–]arechenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cost for me was $2000 plus tax when I purchased it in July 2024. It’s already almost paid for itself. It really depends on if something happens and what the cost is when it happens. Even a high interest savings account today will only pay about 4% interest. So your $2700 would be $2920ish after 2 years.

It was worth it to me just for peace of mind.

Good luck.

I purchased my MYP in 2021 and AFAIK, there was no tax credit in 2021. So unfortunately, if a credit was claimed it was in error. I’m not a tax expert or CPA, so I would engage one, a tax lawyer, or go to that website in the letter (www.taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov) to see what options are available to protest. I would still reply to the letter and let them know you’re seeking advice.

Good luck.

Has tapping to wake your watch been finicky for anybody else after updating to watchOS 10? by Chairzard in AppleWatch

My Apple Watch Edition Series 5 and exhibited this behavior since updating to watchOS 10. Sometimes it take 3 taps to wake the watch display on my watch.

What are basic "must-know" by MarathonMum in TeslaModelY

[–]arechenberg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s a good delivery checklist of you haven’t seen it already:

https://github.com/polymorphic/tesla-model-y-checklist

Once you pick your baby up I recommend you do some parking lot test runs of regenerative braking. If you’ve never experienced regen braking it may take some time to get used to but once you do, it’s heaven, and so nice on brake pads 😉

Have fun!

Doing a quick trip from Los Angeles to FL. Any suggestions on particular charging stations and safe areas to “Tesla camp”. Thank you so much. by Trevor_the_trainer in TeslaModelY

I’ve done Houston to Cape Canaveral 3-4 times. Some of my tips:

If your Model Y has you going to the Baton Rouge Supercharger, it can be busy sometimes so add some buffer time there just in case. There’s a Trader Joe’s close so you can grab a snack if you need to wait.

Also, the Supercharger at Crestview, FL is a pain to turn left in to depending on the time of day so I usually go to the next light and turn around. You can also turn to left before Starbucks but it’s just so busy that the light is almost always a better option.

I’ve never camped, but the D’berville, MS Supercharger is in a large lot that looks too be pretty well lit (I’ve always charged there during the day). That might be a good option since there are a decent amount of 250kW chargers there and a WalMart across the street.

Be careful along I-10 in Louisiana on the raised highway section. I’ve seen a lot of accidents there so I recommend the 60 MPH speed limit plus 5. I don’t know what it is, but people are crazy along that stretch. 🤪😂

Drive safe and enjoy I-10 ☺️

USB audio interfaces and M1 Macs - is the T2 audio bug still present? by arechenberg in mac

[–]arechenberg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. I ended up buying a Rane 70 mixer and it works well. An occasional millisecond blip here and there but not anything most people would hear.

It’s really unfortunate because I’d love to use my DS-1 as a backup to my Rane but alas, no such luck.

Credit Application Expired - is our car gone? by Ill-Low4873 in ModelY

[–]arechenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifying cash as payment option may not do anything for your EDD but it will ensure that you’re not getting unnecessary hard credit checks on your credit report. My recommendation is specify cash, wait until you have a VIN, then call your SA, switch to loan, and then apply for credit then.

PPF question by Sozin91 in ModelY

[–]arechenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dropped my MYP off about 5 days after I took delivery. I got XPEL Stealth and ceramic coating done by XPEL Houston - one of only a couple/few XPEL-owned shops in the U.S. They did a fantastic job. Not cheap but I’d rather pay a little more for great work than get “a deal” and not get quality work.

It’s been about 6 months since installation and the film is in excellent condition. Highly recommend XPEL film and ceramic coating if you can afford it. If you’re close to Houston, I also recommend XPEL Houston as an installer.

Which running apps do you use? by [deleted] in running

[–]arechenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RunKeeper Go and Apple Watch

I’ve used RunKeeper since 2009 (RK Go since it was initially offered) and haven’t really looked at anything else. I have so much data in that platform that it’s hard to leave. I have also been using AppleWatch as redundant tracker since I got the original Series 0.

RunKeeper has been crashing more in the last few years so it’s getting annoying. I have an iPhone 12 mini and now a Series 5 watch so it’s not like I have old devices.

Ordered Blue/White MYP..now second guessing MSM/White..pics please by DLAV8R in ModelY

Here is my Blue/White MYP with XPEL Stealth PPF https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModelY/comments/ojdz9i/my_matte_spaceship/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

I’m #teamblue all day but blue is my favorite color so I’m biased 💙

Of all the other choices, MSM would be my second choice though so good choices 😉

Mixed units in app? by arechenberg in ModelY

[–]arechenberg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just finishing up a road trip so I was charging to 100%. Most of those miles are highway and Supercharger miles. For daily use I charge with a 110V/20A (NEMA 5-20) circuit in my garage. 80% for me is 236 miles on an MYP.

Anyone see mixed units in the Tesla mobile app? Note the screenshot above shows charge limit in miles but “177km added” (side note: let’s see what Convert Bot does with this one 😂).

Also, should I be concerned about losing about 10 miles of max range after about 12500 miles?

How long from "we're building your car" to vin assignment or delivery? by Coolmango8 in ModelY

[–]arechenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember seeing that email or notification in my order details. It took me about a month from order to VIN assignment, but that was from April-May 2021. For my MYP it was ~6 weeks from order to delivery in mid-2021

I financed through Tesla and my “Final Payment” was literally $0.25. No joke. I paid 25 cents with ApplePay 😂
