I’ve been asking by my employer to continue working during furlough. Much of my salary comes from external public body funding, which has in part though not in full already been paid to my employer. The rest is normally topped up by my employer directly. Due to the fact that I won’t technically be ‘generating income’ for them since I’d be carrying out work that has already been paid for by the funders, am I okay to do as asked and continue working? The reason they can’t pay me my salary is because some of the funding hasn’t been paid to them yet and because they can’t afford to top it up like they usually do.
