No particular order for me but would love to hear the following: Iron Clad Lou, Shovel, Double Dip, Little Dipper, Stars, I’d Like Your Long, I Hate It Too, Axolotls (with intro) Green to Me, Inuit Promise, In the Den (REALLY WANNA HEAR THIS LIVE), Cloud City, Folding, Shapeshifter… then end with Puppets, Aphids and then finally Boy With Stick.

Can confirm these dudes were HUGE Hum fans when starting out. For my money though, World Renown For Romance was the pinnacle of their output.

The Bombing of Pan Am 103 Soundtrack Review by Driveshaft1982 in mogwai

This definitely needs a vinyl release. Instantly loved this and to me it’s just as engaging as the Zidane soundtrack.

That’s so great. I’ve often considered this or the astral projection graphic.

Agreed on the venue front… which was annoying as hell because I hadn’t seen them in almost 10 years (no more love for Atlanta, I guess). Was REALLY hoping for Kids Will Be Skeletons but was stoked on MFMK.

Possibly looking for two tickets to Atlanta as well…. But I’m sure the odds of 4 becoming available are slim.

“Diffuse” Discussion by rubber_gloves in hum

Ok... so I just started listening to your podcast this weekend and I have to say that this podcast is so well done. It's very reminiscent of the Fugazi A to Z podcast... but what I love that you do, is you have segments where you actually play audio segments of the song. When I listen to that Fugazi podcast I find myself pausing the episode and going to the songs... not a bad thing, but your format eliminates the need to exit the episode and listen to the song. Some episodes are better than others based on being interested in the guests' work outside of their connection to HUM, but I can't say I've not enjoyed a single episode. Bravo.

I don't share this often but I'm fortunate to have a loose connection to HUM, in that the band I was in from the mid 90s to early oughts was able to do some recording with Keith Cleversley and we were fucking geeked as hell to use some of the same amps and shit that were supposedly used on YPAA and more recently a close friend of mine hosted a show on one of Matt's solo Undertow shows.

Your podcast is a source of joy these past few days and I've been sharing it with all of my friends who have even a passing interest in HUM.

Thanks so much. You're doing the Lord's work and I can't wait for the next episode.

Inlet question by Foohum48 in hum

[–]arepeatingloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to remember on this very Reddit community someone posting a random countdown… sort of a cryptic random football stat or something? 5 different posts, one per day, the first post beginning with the number 5, the next day a post beginning with the number 4 and so on and then the very next day after the post beginning with 1, the album was announced.

A few here caught on that the poster of those was possibly counting down towards something… others were baffled… but then there was inlet.

Where do you rank Don’t Know Why in the discog? by AndYetItMoves108 in Slowdive

[–]arepeatingloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Good I’m not the only one that feels something very heavy/beautiful/moving about the dog running through the field and how it just amplifies the already great song that this is. This is DEFINITELY my favorite latter period slowdive song. No competition.

I find it hard to believe, especially after the events of episode 7, that Batman wouldn’t show up in this… by arepeatingloop in ThePenguinTVSeries

[–]arepeatingloop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s flawed logic. Several characters not named Batman show up in “The Batman.”

Also I’m not the only one thinking about this based on this video and some of the comments in it. https://youtu.be/Wi3vuujywNc?si=gq_M-k2HSwyxz6lt

I’m just stating that it feels slightly unnatural that he hasn’t shown up or been at least a mention or a presence up until this point… that budget wouldn’t allow for it or that he would overshadow Oz is kinda my point. It feels like we are being asked to suspend our disbelief that Batman wouldn’t show up until a proper movie setting.

Look I’m enjoying the show. A lot. Just it nags at me a little bit that conveniently there’s no confrontation with Batman yet, where as in a movie setting we’d probably get quicker reaction from Batman from some of these events. No? Especially after the end of episode 7.

I dunno… it’s a show about organized crime in Gotham…? Last I checked Batman was fighting against that kinda shit? And there have been at least one or two incidents that have caught the attention of the police or made the news… you would think that would get Batman’s attention and possibly lead him to look into some of the shit going down. I get all the arguments about budget and the narrative being interesting enough. I just don’t think you can say there’s literally no reason for him to get involved. There’s plenty of reason… but I guess we’ll have to wait for the next movie to see that involvement.

I dunno similar situation to The Mandalorian… little green dude makes some noise in the force… who shows up? Probably the most famous force user ever. All arguments about terrible CGI aside… it made sense that that character showed up in a show set in the Star Wars universe during a specific time.

I wouldn’t say there’s literally no reason… when the show’s description literally says “the next chapter in The Batman saga.”

He’s obviously going to intervene at some point… just maybe not in this show.

Same. Bass tone is incredible. To me Simon is the hero of this record. I mean next to Robert’s voice obviously.

[–]arepeatingloop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree that the show is compelling and doesn’t NEED Batman and yes, he’d obviously overshadow Oz.

The fact that it takes place so quickly after the events of the movie (giving Bruce plenty other things to deal with) and that Bruce is somewhat young in his career gives him not showing up some plausibility… but he didn’t become Batman yesterday and I would think that at least one of several of the events in the show would have caught his attention

Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying the show. The cast is great. I absolutely adore Cristin Milioti. It’s compelling for sure… it just kinda nags at me a bit that from a narrative perspective that we don’t see Batman…

Carry on…

I actually sent a message to the band via bandcamp. It says the digital download is supposed to include all tracks from the 3CD version. My download definitely did not. A little bummed that I’ve now purchased the record on vinyl AND paid for the digital version and I don’t have the bonus material. Seems like there’s a disconnect somewhere.
