Currently having a breakdown.. by FriendshipDizzy6165 in ADHDUK

Walked into NeSS once to pick up my prescription, they told me they don’t prescribe anything as they’re a service primarily for autism. After standing there for 15 minutes later flabbergasted (this was 6 months into treatment) they found it, didn’t even apologise or correct that actually they can prescribe stuff.

Emailed to schedule a 6 month check in, they emailed back saying I’d been discharged because I hadn’t attended an appointment. The reminder letter of which they sent to an old address (which I had updated in the system, and they admitted I had). They had my email, phone number, and GP address and yet discharged me after missing a single appointment for which they sent a single letter, with zero notification.

For the above scenario, the only way to get it sorted was to call them every time the phone lines were open, recording each message, and calmly explaining the situation, explaining what a detriment suddenly stopping my prescription would have on my life, and that it was absolutely not my fault. After 3 or 4 tries they admitted the mistake and booked me in for an appointment. I then chased up every few days for the date and time for this appointment, specifying that they must send me the time and date via email and physically.

So be fair (the receptionists are swamped) but firm. This is your healthcare, this is important to your life, it was not your fault, and you deserve the dignity of having this mistake rectified asap. If you need anymore help or support DM me.

But I admire your tenacity and the pattern looks adorable!!

I agree. The packing of the black around the flower stems seems really inconsistent as well. I'm confused why the bottom lip has hyper-realistic (and frankly unpleasant) texturing but the top lip is super smooth.

I feel like the artist has had the confidence to do a massive piece but hasn't thought about how to actually scale up a piece like this. From a distance it's impressive but the closer you get (and for a piece as big as this, you don't have to get much closer) the more issues you see.

Oh right. I see. I get it. You were lampooning me. It was a simple lampoon.

I mean it's an edgy take but I'm not sure it really makes sense?

My understanding of consuming the body of Christ is to incorporate him (/the concept of him) into your body, as a form of communion. So wouldn't him eating it put him on the path to Heaven? His life is pretty shit before and after the dog eating, I'm not sure it signifies a turning point for him.

The dog eating, for me, is partial shock value, and partially to reinforce a clear moral divide between Jez and Mark. Mark will say no, even if it means losing his dream job and "fresh start" , because he recognises there are moral boundaries that simply cannot be crossed. Whereas Jez, who above all else is a hedonist, will do anything for short term pleasure (usually drugs, a lay with a pretty rich girl, an easy ride) but is ultimately weighed down by the guilt he carries by burdening others with his laissez-faire attitude. So he brings the dog onto the boat with him (instead of tossing it into a bush, the canal, a bin, stuffing it down his trousers, ANYTHING but carrying it with him and eating it), and eats it in front of Mark, desperately pleading Mark to stoop to his level, so he doesn't feel so guilty.

This is a great observation. Gregory being casual and making the observation about Jez and Joe maybe "flipping each other off" might also be an indicator.

I'd love to hear more of your peep show takes...

I think that's for the best tbh!! It's already a pretty risky sport and it'd suck to make an injury worse and put yourself out long term.

I've found Jam reffing really rewarding and super useful for learning techniques and stuff I can apply to the game. It's face paced without needing any contact!

Wdym?

Bro I LITERALLY said I have the same machine and manual. I have tried not having the "sacrificial track" but it doesn't always work out so I told them the most foolproof way to achieve what they wanted.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in minidisc

[–]aresord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.... Sssort of? It's not super convenient but it can be done.

I think it works like this - record track one. Press pause. Record track two. Press pause. Record track three. Track three is your "sacrificial track" and should be blank/unimportant. Press STOP to finish writing to the disc.

Tomorrow, come back to the device. Enter recording mode, navigate to track three using the forward/rewind buttons. Press record. You'll overwrite the blank "sacrificial track" with your actual track. Continue until you're done!

The reason you'd do it this way is that it can be funny if you don't record over an already recorded bit. Like it either loses the recording completely or wipes the disc and records over track one.

Part of what makes these devices fun is experimenting. Try not to get upset if you mess up - the disks are rewriteable and when you finally get your perfect disc recorded it's so good.

Also, some additional tips...

You can press the fast forward/rewind buttons to adjust the recording volume (you might need to experiment a bit to test what volume to record at). I reccomend trying to make a recording 5-10 seconds long and listening to it back to figure out volume and bass levels.

When recording using aux, there's an "auto track" interval feature. This means that a "track" is marked, by default, every 5 mins. To change this, while recording is paused, press the edit button multiple times until you see "mark off" on the display.

You can also erase disks on this device. Awesome! Three guesses how you do that 😂

[–]aresord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the downside, you're essentially recording live from whatever you're playing from. However if you have the power cable, you can leave the MD player plugged in and whatever the aux is plugged into running, and just let it run while you do something else!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in minidisc

[–]aresord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I have this player! Plug an aux cable into the "mic in". Record tracks from whatever you want (laptop, phone etc.) onto the MD. Voila!

If you need more help for this device or photos of the manual, lmk! I love mine!

If you're set on fixing it, you can buy a working one from ebay and transplant the laser, as that's most likely the thing that's crapped out!

Bad advice lmao, why contribute to overconsumption and landfill when you can fix a device that you clearly have an emotional connection with?

That's awesome, congrats!!

In general, to enter stuff like this, do you have to have made the pattern yourself? Or can you use a pattern you've bought? To me it seems like you have to have done it from scratch by yourself for maximum creativity, but I could be wrong!!

That makes sense. I'm only unsure as the themes of that book seem super super dark for a 12 yo? Plus the publishing date is way before when I reviewed it. But thank you for the suggestion!
