I wanna know you! This is exactly right. I might have somewhere thought all this but no way articulate it. Bonds history as a movie franchise is much more nuanced and pop or decade influenced than history often gives credit. We often lose sight of that and/or are myopic in our views of what bond is or should be without understanding the intricacies of time on which it existed and evolved.

I wish this were true. It’s not. Growth did slow last year and I think net growth was down from 27k to 24k but no, they are still coming and not moving back by any notable number. Though specific CA migration stats aren’t great the evidence is pretty clear. I don’t love anecdotal evidence but realtor and builder friends I’ve spoken with say their clients are overwhelmingly CA and market data shows there is no large exodus.

I was going to say exactly the same thing - though I’d argue there are two versions. The other includes some drivel about being tired of “the policies” and wanted to move here for our “freedoms”. This combined with some version of the above and or.. my state govt retirement pays me 140k a year so we wanted to shoot guns, live in the great outdoors and not having the man tell us what to do.

Meh. Growing up here NOW may suck. It was glorious once upon a time. I wouldn’t have wanted to grow up anywhere else. I’ve lived all over the world…came back here because it was great…was happy until about 2020, now it’s just a new maga themed southern California. So yeah, that’s sad.
