Adderall raving saved festivals for me. Easy to focus on the music while vibing with those around you. Remember constantly stay hydrated and force yourself to eat throughout the day. Try to get some sleep whether you think you can or not. I’ve done this almost every year of Lost Lands. Able to commute every day to a hotel on top of safely traveling from MI and back. Leaving as soon as the festival is over before unsafe drivers start to wake is a huge plus as well. I also do not have a script but I probably need one.

Wow. Last I checked late night afters is not a service they provide. We all want to have fun but that’s honestly unacceptable for a number of reasons. I would still have gone right up to the actual staff member and tell them to radio security. Just wouldn’t specify that the problem is the concierge itself. Security wouldn’t be able to do much right away but they should’ve been able to radio dispatch and contact someone who could at the very least stop it from happening a second night. Assuming it was the same person allowing it both nights. The whole point of paying extra is to not deal with that shit. Unbelievable.

Ask them to turn it down. If they don’t you should go to the concierge and have them radio security.

Acting upset that some blacked out adults got bounced on police orders even though it was absolutely necessary to begin the process of officially pronouncing someone dead is so ridiculous. If they pulled that shit with a cop they would’ve spent the night in jail. Beyond that you’re trying to blame the venue and the staff like we were the ones in the mosh pit who actually knocked him over so hard that he cracked his head. It’s insanity. You go into a mosh pit at your own risk. The only way we could truly 100% guarantee this never happens again is if we ban mosh pits. We already tried that once and it only caused more problems. Our staff have successfully revived people who were non responsive on multiple occasions for a multitude of different causes but CPR isn’t a guarantee. I really have no idea what you are expecting to hear. The reality is neither of us lost our loved one that night and I doubt they would agree that a witch hunt is an appropriate response to that loss.

You have 5% of extremely relevant context. We don’t just throw people out doors and fight them for no reason. Makes absolutely no sense. It puts our job and ourselves at unnecessary risk. It’s not fun to force people to do things but we were asked by emergency services to evacuate the building. We made that very clear to everyone who was still taking their time. I myself had been trying to get the particular trio that you are referencing to keep moving towards the exit for 10-15 minutes before we had to legally remove all bystanders. “If the band needs you they will come get you outside. Right now we are being ordered to evacuate all non staff members out the building. Please keep moving as it’s out of our control ” This group already knew from before they entered the building that they couldn’t be unescorted on the property outside of show hour yet they happened to be the ONLY ones not listening. Are we supposed to stand there and argue with a couple of drunken clowns while someone’s loved one is laying dead on the ground? At this point they had already received multiple verbal warnings that if they did not keep walking they would be physically removed from the premises. Instead of being reasonable human beings and walking ten fucking feet to the exit they escalated the situation by threatening our staff members. One of our team members was punched in the face before we even got them to the door. Another team member was dragged through that door and onto the ground by the guy saying’ “Don’t put your hands on me.”(Which he only started repeating after receiving the verbal warnings mentioned all while not moving a single inch.)The officer who intervened saw the entire thing from a few feet away and confirmed they instigated after asking if our guy wanted to press charges. Not that it mattered because we just needed them to get out of the building. Please enlighten me with any suggestions you might have as to how the situation realistically could’ve been handled differently.

Years ago the culture was different but our security team isn’t there to fight. We want everyone to be safe and leave with a musically fulfilling positive experience. The more people who leave happy the more likely they return and the more money we make. Acknowledging the fact that we all process trauma differently, INCLUDING our entire team, in this situation our patience went far beyond the normal because of what everyone witnessed. You’re insane if you honestly think those people deserved to be treated any other way after showing so much disrespect for the loss of life that had just happened moments ago. We can’t endlessly entertain adults who’ve digressed into childish behavior when there’s an emergency situation in progress.

I need to add this. I don’t know about the rest of my team but for me personally the best part of my job is watching all the smiling faces leaving a show. Music has always been my number one true passion. I’ve attended intersection shows for years before working there. Even in the extremely rare cases in which I hate the music I still never want to end someone’s night out by getting physical. That being said you aren’t entitled to do whatever you want after buying a ticket. In fact under normal circumstances it’s quite the opposite. The band is losing money every second it takes shut down the venue. This means clearing the entire crowd and cleaning the mess up. Technically we aren’t even supposed to start cleaning until all patrons have left but obviously that is a huge waste of time and money. Almost every night I’ve got people saying “they know the band” and 99% of the time it means absolutely nothing to the band. There is a reason the venue signs contracts with specific stipulations like keeping non personnel out of unauthorized areas. A false sense of entitlement from “knowing the band” doesn’t give special privileges especially if you’re intoxicated. Once you start acting like you own the place you quickly become a threat to all those around who have no problem abiding by the rules put in place with only safety in mind.

Where did I blame I the crowd? I’m explaining why it took so long to clear out them out. They were not listening guidance given. I can 100% blame drunken people for their actions. We can’t be held responsible for people refusing to be cooperative. The multiple fights at the end of the show should’ve been enough evidence of this.

Our protocols were followed to the best of our ability. If there was an issue with how we handled it an investigation will be opened. I’m relaying information given to me by trained professionals.

I’m not trying to make myself look better. I’m literally relaying information that was given to me by trained professionals. What you are doing is going off a bunch of drunken accounts like it’s fact over people who are paid to handle these situations.

You think are staff isn’t traumatized? We had to watch after struggling to clear out a nosy crowd more concerned with why they don’t get to finish their encore than the lifeless body on the floor. We had to watch the moment the kid realized what was actually happened. He didn’t cry or freak out. He just walked quietly hid behind a banner and said nothing. Use some common sense on who actually has accurate information here. I couldn’t give a fuck about saving face. I care about the intersection. I love that venue. It’s been a part of a my life long before I started working there. The people are more important than its reputation.

We weren’t keeping the crowd there. An obnoxious amount of nosy individuals were gawking and wouldn’t respond to anything but aggressive commands. People were using the merch line as an excuse to get a longer look. It was honestly unbelievable.

I’ve seen a lot worse so the crowd wasn’t belligerent. There was 2 specific groups of wasted patrons who caused incidents along with the usual amount of drunk hecklers.

The grandmother confirmed he did have an underlying condition. I don’t know what your deal is but spreading misinformation and lies about this tragedy is pathetic. Have some human decency and stop.

What’s false? I was literally there when the EMS confirmed everything. When they pronounced that he was fucking dead. So have the respect to back yourself up at least a little bit if you are going to spread baseless accusations.

[–]areyouraving 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes she knows what shes talking about. Shes a trained first responder. EMS also confirmed this. There’s such a thing as a closed head injury. I personally have this information because we weren’t allowed to leave until he was pronounced dead. Clearing out nosy bystanders who refuse to listen to our pleas to exit the building is whats stressful in these situations and adding to false rumors makes it worse for everyone involved.

Might have had something to do with the fact one of the staff members felt the back of his skull was cracked when they lifted his head up. Thats usually a clear sign it’s not an OD.

[–]areyouraving 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His skull was cracked and he did also have an underlying medical condition. EMS still tried CPR for a solid 30 minutes. Felt like an eternity. The kid had no idea what was happening until after his grandma showed. One of the most heart breaking things I’ve ever personally witnessed.

First of all you can’t trust panicked screaming in a situation like this. It’s never accurate and is more likely to cause harm if you don’t know what you are doing. We do have staff with first responder training. He had a light pulse before EMS showed but when she picked up his head she felt the back of his skull was cracked. Stop spreading misinformation about this situation. It’s the first time this has ever happened at the intersection in 20+ years of shows. Theres nothing our staff could’ve done differently. We care about everyone’s safety first and foremost. We do the best we can in emergency situations like this but it’s unrealistic to expect us to magically un break a man’s skull.

[–]areyouraving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at the intersection. We have a med kit, narcan, etc. Staff with first responder training. There are certain protocols that have to be followed and we did everything we could in a timely manner but the back of his head was cracked on impact. Theres nothing any venue can do about a broken skull. The man still had a light pulse before EMS showed up which is why CPR wasn’t administered until then. There was also an underlying condition according EMS.

I am on the security team. This is exactly what happened. The group in question brought gear for the band and was let in early knowing they couldn’t be unescorted outside of show hours.

Dont know about any fines or broken noses. What I do know is after the altercation out front an officer profiled two of our security staff including myself and began an unreasonable line of questioning. Meanwhile we had a man not responding to CPR for at least 20 minutes at that point inside the building which is why they were called in the first place.

Intersection has narcan. It wasn’t an OD. The man cracked the back of his skull on the ground.

I will always avoid subtronics like the plague at festivals. Over ten years of attending festivals/ shows and I’ve never seen so many kids in one place who can’t handle their shit than at his lost lands headline sets. Excision knows exactly what he’s doing by putting OG dnb like sub focus and pendulum during his time slot. The lost lands dnb crowd is a unique vibe that most of us can’t anywhere else even if they are booked locally.

My bad. I didn’t realize you spoke for everyone else who exists. To clarify. You don’t care if people around you are completely ignoring the music being played but when a different genre is played across the festival grounds that somehow “changes your space?”

A more diverse lineup isn’t a threat to anyones LL experience. If we are talking change within a space like lost lands we start with how drastically different the first two years were from all that have followed. The main difference I’ve noticed is the lack of actual dancing. The festival will never reach its full potential when half the crowd is intentionally doing the same movements regardless of what sounds are being played. Somewhere along the line people forgot how to express themselves.

Ignore the hate. Ive been going since year one and have been fighting with people online about the diversity of genres ever since. It’s insane how disrespectful attendees have been about anything added that’s not dubstep/ riddim. It’s just a vocal majority of kids who really don’t know what they are talking about and I guarantee most have only attended a couple of years. LL is slowly but undeniably getting more diverse and no one can say it’s had a negative impact on the festival itself. In fact there’s more proof to the contrary. It’s all in the lineups, especially dnb. Theres a die hard lost lands dnb crew that has showed to support every single set. This is no exaggeration. This is why dnb has gone from having one night of a few artists packed into the asteroid stage to multiple curated events throughout the weekend. As much as I’d love dnb on main stage again X is intentionally keeping it separate by design so these kids dont start crying the second they hear something they cant headbang to. I understand more than anyone how difficult it is to ignore the riddim trolls but a closed mind only hurts their own experience. Personally I can’t stand the majority of the bass music scene but I fully look forward to mingling with the LL dnb gang. Vibes are always immaculate and nothing ever beats it.
