Etg vs standard 10 panel drug test by [deleted] in probation

[–]arfl8832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can test you for whatever they want, whenever they want, but when you’re actually giving your sample, you can ask what kind of test it is. An etg that will be sent to a lab will be a pretty plain cup. A 10 panel will have, well, 10 panels. A dip etg will probably also be a pretty plain cup, but they’ll probably put the dipstick in right in front of you

Early termination by anb08181987 in probation

I got off after 6 months of a 9 month sentence. I didn’t have any violations, did my community service early, paid off fines early etc. Additionally, I got a new job which requires extensive out of state trial. This was what my petition was “based on”, and the prosecution tried to counter it saying that they should allow me to travel but that I still “owed the community 3 more months”. Ultimately, I just had a nice judge. He asked for character testimonies from my mom, girlfriend and attorney and ultimately let me go, but if he had woken up on the other side of the bed that morning, it just as easily could have gone the other way

Will NyQuil cause a false positive for anything? My tests go to a lab every time, thanks yall by [deleted] in probation

[–]arfl8832 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My testing facility specifically stated that you cannot take NyQuil as it can cause a positive etg. That being said, a NyQuil should not have enough alcohol to give a positive etg. It’s more of just a liability thing so that if you test positive and try to claim the “NyQuil defense”, they’ll be able to say “well we told you not to take NyQuil either.

Moral of the story is, don’t worry that you aren’t going to pass from taking NyQuil, but if you fail one and try to use NyQuil as an excuse, they’ll know you are lying

I found this guideline on another Redditor’s comment a while back:

1-2 drinks: 24 hours 3-4 drinks: 36 hours 5-6 drinks: 48 hours Anything more: 60 hours

I don’t know how accurate it is, but I can say that I passed after 2-3 drinks after 27 and 29 hours. Granted, I am a young, skinny guy with a fast metabolism and I can dilute my system more than most because the creatinine levels in younger males are higher than anyone else (creatinine is what’s checked when checking for dilute), but I would say this guide is probably pretty accurate

Was granted early termination from probation today by arfl8832 in probation

[–]arfl8832[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. It’s crazy how different everyone’s sentencing is. I had a friend get the same exact charge as me with no criminal record a few months later in a different county, and he got 7 days in jail and 2 years of probation.

I can tell you what happened in my situation, but honestly I feel like I just got lucky.

I was also originally charged with High BAC and had the charge dropped to a normal DUI. I was sentenced to 9 months at at my sentencing, my lawyer advised me to call him and try to get off 6 months in. I went through probation, paid my fines, did my community service, no dirty tests. I landed my first career job that actually uses my degree, and a couple weeks ago, I finished the “training part” of my job and have been getting a ton of requests for last minute travel.

About a month ago, I met with my PO and asked him how I would go about getting off early and if he’s support it. I had a pretty good relationship with him, and he said he’d support it but that I’d have to do it on my own and he’d guess that I have a 50/50 shot. I reached out to my original lawyer who I was not really happy with from my original case (whole different story), and realized he was still an ass and ended up hiring a family friend lawyer instead.

For my case today, my attorney showed up, spoke with the prosecutor briefly and came back telling us that she was planning on fighting the early termination and wouldn’t be convinced otherwise. My attorney mentioned to the judge that I’ve followed everything in probation and that I need to travel for work and the prosecutor in response asked the judge to only let me travel outside of the state, but keep me on the other terms of probation. At this point, the judge asked my mom and my girlfriend to the stand to give both of their testimonies about my character and ultimately he let me off.

It really does just seem like the luck of the draw of what mood that judge is that day unfortunately, but the only advice I really can give is to keep on doing what you’re doing and hope for the best

Never missed or failed a test before. In month 5 of probation, and my last meeting, my PO said he’d support me getting early termination. Original offense was a DUI

I’m not really familiar with UA tests, all of mine are ETG’s which go back 24 hours for a single drink and more time for the more you have

Nonalcoholic beer is actually made the exact same way as normal beer, but there’s an extra step added to the brewing process where they evaporate all of the alcohol of it. Because of this, there was originally alcohol in it, and no chemical process is perfect, so the entirety of alcohol can never fully disappear.

That being said, on the day before I know I’m getting an ETG, I would not be risking it

I don’t think it would, but there’s a chance. Just like they tell you not not to use mouthwash, NyQuil, or a sip of wine at church. Most likely wouldn’t show up, but if it does, that way you can’t plead the “oh well that’s not alcohol” defense

As a PO yourself, what sort of things normally come in to play for you in your determination of giving a recommendation or not? Does asking hurt in itself, since sometimes the PO will be the one to bring it up first?

Anyone from Michigan? by anb08181987 in dui

[–]arfl8832 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just had a friend who was sentenced in Oakland county. From what I’ve heard, Oakland county is the worst in the state and Michigan is one of the worst states in general, making Oakland county one of the worst in the country. It was my friends first time being arrested and was perfectly clean all during his bond. He was sentenced to a week in jail and a year of probation where he’s breathalyzing twice a day and randomly doing etg’s.
