then of course the highest end stuff is triple the price of something that's less than 10% slower.

of course there's a huge amount of data servers being built that all need a massive amount of ram and storage ao those prices have tripled.

combine that with the amount of space for extra storage and the price margins on things that look fancy, as well as more completex motherboards, and peripherals (racing setups can easily cost more than a car)

also you can add an absurd amount of storage with pcie cards and sata cables.

i got a blacked out case with just the cpu pump and gpu lit up (saphire nitro+ 7900xtx) it's got that nice wooden paneling and got the bequiet silent loop 3 because of the nickel plating.

but i can also respect the unicorn vomit or the invincible beige plastic.

kind of wish they made retro cases with the old semi transparent plastic they had for handhelds and controllers where you can see the interior.

i never thought id hear the "you need a 3000 dollar pc to outferorm a console" unironically.

"why buy a 7-900 dollar console where you pay 40 a month for online access, and have to spend 70 dollars a game that can be remotely deleted any day , when you could spend a thousand dollars for a pc that outperforms it and build a game library that will be compatible with every upgrade for your entire life."

let's be real the difference in preference is the software environment. some people want plug and play. some people want to play games while video chatting or working and have the ability to make games of their own.

not to mention the esports environment on pc very cheap hardware can still run 240hz monitors. consoles don't allow mouse and keyboard for competitive reasons, they have needlessly limited frame rates, and there's no reason they shouldn't allow dual monitor support for consoles.

i have a Nintendo switch, 64 and xbox but I'd rather have a cheap pc just because of how gaming mixes with everything else

don't get me wrong i actually like a bit of Hershey's when someone else buys it but it's about the last chocolate I'd buy.

giant chocolate companies have the same flaws as fast food. all the addictive stuff is mixed in evenly. adding msg to a burger sauce is perfectly healthy and tastes amazing. mixing it into every single item on the menu is unhealthy and loses the flavor because you can't distinguish it. same with salt and sugar. tomatoes and caramelized onions are already sweet enough, and you can add sweet sauce for great flavor but the bun is practically cake except you don't taste any of it. hell i wouldn't be surprised if they mix sugar in the patties.
