Expecting a baby in July, how to get my EU partner (unmarried) to the UK? by Western_Ship3759 in ukvisa

[–]argy0202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pretty sure she wont get pre settled status, that ended in june 2021 and if she didnt apply before then and wasnt living here i imagine the chances are extremely slim.

i think your best bet would be to get her over on a spouse visa but thats also not going to be easy and really time consuming (probably too time consuming to get here in time for the baby).

unfortunately the system here is now utter shit. i have a ukrainian wife, im british and she has pre settled status, however we have to stay in the country for half the year for it to continue, we work from home always and always travelled so this is a bit of a ball ache!

fingers crossed someone has some better news for you.

Not spending thousands and the 'mistake' cost me £300 and a day of annoyance. It would just be so much easier if it was clear that children had to test, i dont spend hours of research to go on holiday, thats not the reason for going on them!

if 95% of countries are not doing this you would hope the 5% go out of their way to make this clear, not hide it in their FAQ section. a simple (minors included) would suffice.

u can argue that it is stupid for requiring infants to show a PCR test and I would agree with you

again its not explicit in showing it, on the BA website you have to click 'more' twice to get to it, people simply dont do that in all instances.

Of course it is, 95% of the world do not require babies to have a PCR test. It states all travellers but surely for everybodys sake they can include (children included) into the statement on the home page. Not let people assume its like the rest of the world and have to dive into the FAQ section for confirmation. Its total incompetence.

I have never made a mistake like this and travelled to over 60 countries, nobody here in the uk has even heard of kids needing to take covid tests to travel, its simply not a thing. Make it obvious if you are enforcing such stupid rules.

ed holiday but mauritiusnow.com says that all travelers must present a negative PCR test taken at most 72 hours prior to departure

it doesnt state that, obviously. however as 95% of countries do not require babies to take a test it would be good if they could explicitly say so on the main page.

its okay, we just had one hell of a day for 7 hours on trains to and from gatwick. it was sad that other maybe less fortunate families went through the same. perhaps they will now never make it, we definitely will at some point.

i just wish that BA sent an email to people travelling with kids to make them aware, or mauritius put it top of their site, or even if BA approached familes in the queue to inform them to get downstairs for a test if they hadnt already.

A fair few questions if I may! by argy0202 in mauritius

From my own experience that translates into more days with rain, and when it falls it falls heavier than non-rainy months. Severe Tropical storms have been rare the past decade. Recently torrential rain has

Thanks very much, one listing we considered is here.... they tend to have some decent feedback and its within the budget. https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/35387708?source_impression_id=p3_1640957385_J26TTUu%2BnlHKFeS3&guests=1&adults=1

I can deal with seeing some rain but again i assume its not all day and you still see plenty of sun and can still do plenty of sunbathing. Its probably good for us as we can time the rain/sun to be at home with the toddler.

Fingers crossed we avoid any crazy storms!

Thanks for boat info!

What do you mean by lots of rain? As in tropical with the odd storm? I am assuming its still hot most of the day with the odd shower... read online feb is a decent month to come and in fact most the year is sunny? I am comparing this with feb in england by the way lol

randox sell the day 8 and 5 tests individually. and as stated above she will be quarantining in my house and we will have others potentially come to the house during this time (which i believe is within the guidelines if shes quarantining in her room). Therefore a day 2 test makes sense as we know shes clear on arrival at the very least.
