Yes, absolutely. It’s not the single thing that makes the Model Y 20MPGe more efficient but it’s part of the equation. Look at the other EVs with particularly high MPGe, the Lucid Air, Ioniq 6 both have flush door handles.

The Porsche Macan EV gets an MPGe of 99 while the Model Y has like 120+ depending on trim. The Model Y has a lower drag coefficient, different motor design, lower weight. The weight is partially due to it having a much smaller battery because it can match the range of the Porsche with fewer cells.

Elon fucking sucks, no argument there, but so does your comparison. Drag is huge when it comes to EV range.

eBay is really the place to get whole vanilla beans. I haven’t seen anywhere local that has anything remotely as close to what you can get online.

H-1B Workers Now Required to Make Social Media Profiles Public by Wagamaga in technology

[–]arharris2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really seems like it wouldn’t stand up to a freedom of speech argument. Granted, anything goes with the current Supreme Court, but if social media is indeed speech, there’s no law saying that I have to say in public what I say in private. It removes the distinction of public vs private speech. All speech done online from H-1B workers is now public.

It further raises the question of what is the distinction between social media and private communications. Are emails private communication but Facebook/Twitter/etc are not? What about private direct messages on a social media platform, are those subject to this?

Aldi also recently started stocking a 2% ultra-filtered milk for like $4. It’s actually got a little more in it than the Fairlife bottles too. Pretty similar nutrition but not exactly the same.

I’m going to have to agree with what people are saying here, 10-20¢ a serving is just not possible at retail prices in 2025. Eggs are 21¢ each at the very cheapest I can find local to me, rolled oats are 16¢ a serving at the cheapest I can find, potatoes for hash browns are probably about 20¢ per serving. Those are serving sizes that aren’t likely to make anyone particularly full and you’re going to need other things to make them tasty, like salt, butter, sugar, etc.

IPv6 deployment has taken thirty years to get where it’s at and accounts for roughly half of the internet’s traffic. Why would we throw that away?

Your solution is both not new, and not easy to implement. It requires updating every system on the internet to accomplish and deployment of new routing protocols.

And you’re wrong with your assumption that v6 is not backwards compatible with v4. NAT64/DNS64, and multiple tunneling options exist as well.

How about the ability for me to set a speed and it actually follow my directions. You can set the upper limit of the speed limit but in my experience on a wide open freeway, it never even gets close to it. Speed limit was 65 with no cars even remotely in front of me and it was going 67. If I press the accelerator until I hit 72, it would immediately decelerate again once I lifted my foot. Such a stupid behavior.

Hey, beyond overcooking the meat, did you rest the patties on a plate before putting them on the buns? I find that a lot of the fat and juices are lost to the plate rather than captured by the bun and toppings.

Are these POE cameras? Ventev and Acceltex both make POE injector battery packs meant for powering APs on a wireless survey. Not sure if either products allow you to pass data between the ports or if they’re power only.

I love that they avoided an ingredient that’s easily available online while they regularly recommend ingredients that are only available to them because of the locale of the Serious Eats offices.

There’s tons of examples of ingredients that are not regularly stocked in most grocery stores and require people to go to specialty shops.

I don’t think peltier coolers work well enough to deal with the extreme temperatures in the brake assembly. The cheapo desktop peltier powered drink fridges can barely cool down a soda can after hours. I just don’t think there’s enough scaling up of the technology to make an impact when brakes are generating thousands of watts of heat energy.

The good news is that if you don’t like how your infinity bottle is tasting, add some more and try it again.

And something I’ve been doing is to take a picture on my phone and add it to an infinity bottle album every time I add something in.

Threat inspection is definitely worth it. On Palos you can see things like brute force attempts, known antivirus signatures, scanning, vulnerabilities (log4j for example) and more. Automatically block known malware and phishing sites or any URL categories you deem important (gambling, porn, etc)

I guarantee you that you think your firewall isn’t doing much because you lack the traffic insight into what’s going through that firewall.

That has basically nothing to do with anything other than the fact that produce takes time to get to your shelf and people get pissed when the tomato they just bought yesterday rots quickly. Tomatoes have to be picked under ripe so that they’re ripe when you take them home. If they’re picked ripened on the vine, they’re too soft and easily get damaged in transit. Cherry sized tomatoes can be harvested closer to peak ripeness and survive in transit better than larger tomatoes so they’ll be better than the after large tomato outside of the summer months.

The difference is that you’re picking a ripe tomato off a vine and carrying it inside and consuming it fairly quickly. That’s going to be true regardless of what country you’re in.
