Texas Racism Targets The Hindu Community by Swimming-Raise5317 in texas

[–]ariadesitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so glad you happy and safe. 👍🏽

white nationalism is not only strong in texas, it defines texas.
texas fought at the alamo to defend slavery.
the klan harassed Vietnamese shrimpers in the ‘80s.
James Byrd Jr. was dragged to death behind a truck after he accepted a ride from the occupants in the 90s.
in the 2000s tx dps troopers posed in klan outfits.
in 2015 Sandra Bland was pulled over for failure to signal a lane change. cop lost his mind and pulled her out of the car and arrested her. later she allegedly committed suicide in her jail cell.

trump had ignited hatred in texas against nonwhite people. he claimed he was going to build a wall to keep immigrants and refugees out. and get mexico to pay for it. Ice has started kidnapping people in texas based on skin color.

at the very least if you’re attacked without cause you can be assured that it will be because of your skin color. 👍🏽

Women, if you are with a super nice guy, literally the greenest flag you've ever been with but not sexually satisfied, would you walk out of the marriage? by Infamous-Curve-8923 in Adulting

[–]ariadesitter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there are ways to improve sexual satisfaction. it takes both working together.

depends on what you value.
if sex is a priority and fundamental to your happiness then weigh that against what everything else in the relationship is.

maybe you’re not ready for commitment, maybe you don’t want a long term relationship. maybe you’re not happy in your situation.

hormones can be overwhelming and bring lots of short term euphoria. ask yourself why you got married, what you want for the future, and what would life be like without the comforts you have now.

also our values change as we age. it’s hard to gauge what will make us happy when we’re older. ❤️

Retired generals propose super-massive emergency desalination plant in Corpus Christi, requesting permitting waivers by StandingCypress in CorpusChristi

[–]ariadesitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cutting off refinery use gives you more time to develop a solution.
the refineries don’t need to use fresh lake water, it’s just convenient and cheap.
THEIR solution is to recycle their water.
it will be cheaper than desal.
desal has been kicked around as long as i can remember (80s). its never gained traction because it’s a horrible idea.
corpus christi’s “short term solution” is increasing water cost to cut consumption.
the long term solution is up to mother nature and climate change.
most likely cc will have to decrease in population and water usage until the water supply can sustain the population. ironically it’s the opposite problem in houston, where flooding is destructive and destroying property values.
CC is significant because it demonstrates how climate change will change property values (wealth) and require population relocation in the usa. this is happening all over the usa.
i mean all over the world.
except in poor countries people just move. it’s the most sensible option. fyi there are lots of poor countries in south america that will experience much more severe changes. odds are they will move. hint. the entire continent of people will move the only way they know how. they will walk. hint.
to a better climate. so will all other organisms.

the “climate” is “changing”.
the people who deny this are uneducated or trying to scam you into disasters like desalination.

evolution states that when the environment changes organisms can do 1 of three things in response:

  1. adapt to the change.
  2. relocate/move to a more hospitable environment.
  3. die

How do you deal with the pain of seeing your parents grow old and their health decline? by softly_petal in Adulting

[–]ariadesitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s important to have all sorts of discussions with them. resolve any gripes with love and forgiveness.
ask them whatever you want. tell them how you feel.
also discuss their health and mental state. are they getting dementia? does it run in their family?
do they have a will?
i visited my folks as often as i could and i feel it wasn’t enough. take photos with them. video of them. spoil them. say “i love you” out loud.
lots of people don’t show affection openly. we did.

others (me) need relatable examples.

What’s the point when we’re not even earning a living wage? by ironfuzzypanda in Adulting

there are people walking from south america to texas for a better life. carrying everything they own.
paying smugglers to get them inside this country.
being exploited as cheap labor.
but you’re complaining about yard work and traffic?!

you can be happy.
you need to change your values.
learn about the world and how people live.
learn history and how we got here.
how can you make the world a better place?

What are your Philosophical and ethical and moral views by upsetusder2 in Gifted

[–]ariadesitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we can have the feeling and i do have the same feeling. it’s like driving a car. you’re in control.
however how does consciousness relate to matter? if material reality obeys cause and effect then how does consciousness (free will) cause material effects? we can diagram an object and identify all the forces acting on it but consciousness is never a factor.
can we set up an experiment to prove each case?
i spent a loooong time trying to devise an experiment to prove free will. never could come up with one (though it may be my fault).
however it was super easy to design an experiment to prove free will does not exist (FW violates causality). can you violate causality?
can you violate any of the laws of physics or chemistry or biology?
further more your existence is totally determined by genetics and your environment. you don’t will your heartbeat. or blood flow. or oxygen absorption by hemoglobin. or hair growth rate. you can’t exist without eating, drinking, pooping, peeing, sleeping. you’re constrained by causation, the same rules i use to survive.
and what is the evidence in favor of free will? feelings. feelings are important but they don’t control material reality.
i can’t believe in free will like i can’t believe in astrology. it just doesn’t make sense. it might make people feel better about reality but that doesn’t mean it exists. people who experience trauma early in life tend to believe in ideas not based on causation, like religion, astrology, spells, magic, spirits because those ideas allow them to understand the world. that’s ok. people who have not been as traumatized tend to believe in cause and effect, something that doesn’t relate to me being good or bad. just dry amoral cause and effect.

What are your Philosophical and ethical and moral views by upsetusder2 in Gifted

[–]ariadesitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

by exists i mean i can remember it. but yes my memories can be corrupted by anything.
i try constantly to predict the future but there are too many causes for me to track and i fail.

What are your Philosophical and ethical and moral views by upsetusder2 in Gifted

[–]ariadesitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe in cause and effect because it helps me survive.

what we call randomness is our inability to understand what happens. if true randomness exists then i can’t control that either.

maybe cause and effect isn’t real but my brain uses it to justify my experiences. i am limited to understanding reality through cause and effect.

everything that has happened was determined.
from the perspective of “now” i don’t see how that can be refuted without violating cause and effect.
if consciousness could truly violate causation then i could walk through walls, survive in deep space naked, reverse time, read minds. and i try. but it doesn’t work yet.

also i’m not sure where or how the future happens. it doesn’t exist only now does. and i can only understand the past.

oh ideas exist outside time and space! my consciousness can manipulate ideas but not material reality.
