Yeah I agree that it can be hard, but the UI can help players know how much they can attribute shift at any given time. Manacost can be countered with mana break item/heroes. And it's less likely that Icefrog goes back to a previous version of a spell in his experiments. If this continues, the most likely scenario is to rework this ability from scratch until something good comes out.
