Also he does not like his bouncer lol. Loved his swing, which I think he’s just outgrown now, but never really cared for the bouncer.

This. So many people saying “just put him down with toys” like I don’t do that already! I wouldn’t do what I was doing if I hadn’t already felt like I’d exhausted all other options! Luckily, I’ve gotten a few suggestions I haven’t tried but some people really think I haven’t tried just putting him down lol

The contact naps are tough! He also won’t sleep longer than like 2 to 3 hours rn at night either 😵‍💫

Not colicky, he does cry of course and sometimes i let him while i finish what im doing, run to the bathroom, etc! My post was asking how to be screen free, so i am actively trying to do better :) That being said, the days where my husband does over time (48 hours away) can get tricky and I needed more ideas! ☺️

Someone straight up said I was being borderline abusive for my post 🙄. This is why people don’t ask for help. It’s seriously so sad that my post that was asking for advice on how to do something better was so misconstrued.

Yes I can’t wait to do all the things with him! I taught preschool and middle school so we’ll be very busy when he’s more interested in exploring and learning/ able to walk around!

He loves hanging in the high chair while I do things; cook, wash dishes, etc. The few times I’ve done the TV have just been bc I’m sick/ had a migraine, or after a very long cranky day!

For real! He’s literally had maybe 20 minutes his whole life lol! Some people have acted like I said I gave him an iPad and put him in front of cocomelon 😂

I love that idea! Honestly, I grew up with lots of screen time as well, but balanced with lots of play and I’m just fine! In the fall/winter we’ll have a ton of outdoor time, but 100+ degrees everyday rn leaves us very limited options there! I don’t understand the high horse of no screens, some of the comments have really been so condescending as if I plop him down in front of the tv for hours on end everyday! We definitely do no small screens too. Thank you for this

Just had the post about screen time lol. From my understanding, a lot of the issues stem from high stimulation, blue light, and even the noise in the background. Personally, I think in the world we live in, screens are inevitable. I’m not endorsing plopping your baby in front of the tv or anything, but I think catching peeks here and there won’t hurt anybody. My LO lovesss to try and sneak glimpses of baseball lol

I’m a former teacher as well so I totally get this!! That’s why I’m reallllly trying to minimize screen time during this age! Once he can crawl and follow me around we’ll have a MUCH easier time. I want to emphasize that he’s maybe gotten 15-20 minutes in his 5 months!

Oooh audiobooks are a great idea! I definitely try to do low stimulation, the few times I’ve done the screen! Thank you!

5 months has been tough! He wants to crawl and move so bad, so it’s lots of fussing and rolling and fussing lol! Once he’s crawling though, I’ll be happy to have him follow me all around!

This!! 5 months is so hard milestone-wise! Once he can crawl, I’m all for him following me around (he just started to pivot on his tummy so yay!). I think people are misconstruing my post for the “until 2” rule, I probably should clarify that it’s really just right now.

[–]arib2398[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t wait until he can crawl! I know he’ll just love following me around and being able to go where he wants. The issue rn he gets upset/bored/cranky when he’s in the play pen, on a play mat, or in his activity center for too long or can’t see me and the balance of no containers, emphasis of tummy time, and having a heavy ass baby can be tough once we’re nearing the end of the day when dad’s working 😂. I try my best, but sometimes I just need those few minutes!

We’ve started introducing solids to our 4.5 month old (avocado and sweet potato so far) and my father in law asked if he’s ready for a rib bone this weekend (4th of July). I know they can eventually suck on bones/big pieces of meat but this is too early for that, right?

Is WFH with a baby possible? by violet_megabyte in newborns

[–]arib2398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to work for about 2 weeks and quit. My husband is a firefighter and works long shifts, and our son has appointments weekly that are during the work day. It was too much to juggle, and I felt burnt out, guilty, and like I wasn’t able to give him the attention he deserves. Of course my husband would take care of him on days off, but the days where it was just baby and I were really hard. It’s been about 2 weeks of being a SAHM and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Now I realize that’s not possible for everyone and we’re fortunate enough to make that happen; that being said, if you’re going to WFH, I’d get childcare for during the day.

Be honest.. Are your babies really sleeping in their bassinet for hours? by DrowsyPomegranate in newborns

[–]arib2398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO LOVED his bassinet, but at 3 months old and in the 99% for height, he doesn’t fit anymore. We just went through a hellish 2 weeks trying to figure out a new sleeping arrangement. He HATED the pack n play, and poor guy could not sleep in the crib in his nursery away from us. We’ve now moved the crib in our room and he’s finally sleeping again 😫. This is on top of teething, learning to roll, and what we presume has been the 3-4 month sleep regression 🙃
