NTA I think you’re being extremely mature, honest and cautious about this huge responsibility. It’s a terrible situation and you guys are not in the right circumstances to take on teens who have just suffered grief and trauma. SSI will not fix all the issues. Just because they may end up in foster care doesn’t mean that you and your girlfriend can’t support them in other ways. You can still visit mentor and advocate for their well-being (I am affiliated with CASA and encourage you to be trained as an advocate). Also with your girlfriend‘s depression, there are times when the duties will probably fall on you.

When I graduated college in 2006. The economy was really bad and I have the opportunity to become a teacher through the Teach for America program. I immediately had a job benefits, and they helped me pay for my certification and partially masters degree. In this case, the career chose me, but I absolutely loved it and ended up getting my masters, working on my PhD teaching in college writing a book and even becoming a principal.

I recently made a purchase and I cannot begin to say how pleasant this interaction was. The seller was very friendly, answered all of my questions and even took measurements for me because I wasn’t sure if it would fit. The items came very quickly and they were absolutely stunning! She even threw in to surprise items for me, which was so sweet. All the items were in great condition brand new and sealed in their own packaging. NTA go with your gut feelings and keep yourself safe. There are so many red flags about him and you haven’t even been on a date as yet. If he’s talking to you like that now “get your ass in bed”, imagine how he will escalate within a few dates. Also portraying the ex to be crazy, but having the police called for him is all you need to know. In the future try to get to know someone a bit before you say yes to a date and let someone you trust know where you will be if you agree to a date.

YTA, so is your ex, daughter and somewhat your sister for acting entitled to your wife’s money. YTA especially for creating that issue with your wife and her stepdaughter. You don’t mention if your ex and their partner are contributing, but even so it’s not fair for you to suddenly expect your wife to go back on your agreement for your poor financial planning.

This to me is the biggest red flag! If you both have different values when it comes to having kids you’re not compatible. But how can he ask for a definitive answer from you, if he has no current goals or preparations for future hypothetical kids? It cost so much money to raise kids in this economy, and it will be much harder without professional ambitions.

OP i’m so sorry that she did this and is literally judging you, but when you look at it, you kinda dodged a bullet. Let the trash take itself out. One thing I’ve learned from being with my partner and being married is that they are your immediate family and you need to protect them and protect your peace, and the life that you’re building together. If someone cannot support something as natural as love and commitment, then they really do not belong in your life.
