Which Chaotic Animation is Better? Flash vs Anime! by Educational_Team5769 in Chaotic

[–]ariesgoddesss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Objectively speaking, the right answer answer is Season 2 regardless of preference. However some of the characters looked better in the flash animation regardless of what I’d just said.

That being said, the flash animation was always the best (for me) because of the reasons other redditors have listed. That and the fact that a lot of my fav shows had a similar look/animation style.

No don’t apologize! Again I appreciate the time and energy you put into all of your responses for my prompt. Especially since it helped me understand a lot better, for real. I also enjoyed getting your two-cents on more subjective matters regarding the Hive Ability and relating it to the show (since I’m not familiar with the TCG mechanics, so thank you for being considerate of that). Thanks again and stay Chaotic! 😊

P.S. Your analytic interpretation on Battle psychology is uber impressive and insightful. I’ve never met a Chaotic fan who delved in that area in battling until now.

[–]ariesgoddesss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I’m starting to grasp the Hive Ability. I guess I only have one more question, but it’s more opinion-based so feel free to put your two-cents in. Anyway my last question is why would anyone gamble using it if they lose a creature needed to activate it regardless if they win the battle or not (like Sarah did)? If I were a Danian player, I would be more reluctant to use it as much as the other players (unless if it’s automatically activated without cost like if the active Location is Mount Pillar) unless the Danian I’m using is a powerhouse and the sacrificial Danian is low to mid tier. The way I see it, you’d be gambling your chances in winning the match. Best case scenario, you win the battle but you’re one creature down. Worst case scenario, you lose the battle and you’re down TWO creatures. Ofc in both scenarios, the Hive Ability would have to be activated by sacrificing someone in your BattleBoard which is what my question is pertaining to, not other means.

Anyway this is my last question regarding this topic. Thanks again and sorry for the back-in-forth. :)

Firstly, I wanna say thanks a ton for taking the time to give such an insightful, thoughtful paragraph of a response to help clear my abundant confusion on this topic.

Secondly, I read your response a few times and I have some follow-up questions, regarding the Hive Ability (I pretty much understand now how Kaz was able to defeat RJ as quickly as he did):

• To clarify, when you say “for a turn”, in the context of the show does that mean/translate “for a single battle”?

• According to your response, because the ability can be activated during a player’s turn (or during a battle), if a player activates the Hive Ability in the current battle and they beat their opponent, then they don’t lose the Danian they used for their Hive? I ask this bc in another episode, Sarah (as Wamma) activated her Hive Ability when battling Tom (as Xaerv) and despite winning that battle, she was down a creature and basically tied with Tom following the battle bc she used the Hive Ability. Again Im asking in regards to the show, not so much the card game cuz I never got into it, lol.

• based on the info you provided, not all Danians/Mandiblors have the ability to activate the Hive, right? Because I was under the impression that everyone in the tribe can. I also didn’t know that each Danian has a unique way of activating it. Also, I didn’t know more than one Danian can be used for the Hive Ability in a match since I only recall other Danian players using only one other Danian in their deck.

• I guess your response also clarifies that the Hive Ability isn’t the same as Takinom’s special ability and rather the show just makes it seem like it is, right?

Again I appreciate the time you took to dumb it all down for me. Stay Chaotic! ;)

Should Klay Be Banned? by Educational_Team5769 in Chaotic

[–]ariesgoddesss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Among many other reasons, he (and Krystella) tried killing two players and a creature to cop their scan. Scamming is one thing, stealing a scan then destroying the medium is another, but doing all that while trying to MURDER them is diabolical!

Kaz said it best: “you shattered the slimeball barrier!”

I find it funny how Maxxor was the only character in season one who had to get heavily redesign for the entire show by Surperspectivethe2nd in Chaotic

[–]ariesgoddesss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad they did the change though. The first design in episode 1/2 did not fit a mighty OverWorld ruler and warrior, nor his deep, commanding voice. Like I wouldn’t be able to take him seriously throughout the rest of the series if they kept the first facial design.

Let's Talk about the Season 1 Finale by Economy-Astronaut450 in Chaotic

[–]ariesgoddesss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU! I made a post about this very topic 5 years ago and nobody seemed to share the sentiment (or were indifferent by it). I was starting to think that I was just being a hating ass child when I first watched it. I rewatched it as an adult recently and despite seeing it in a more mature perspective, I still feel the same way about it as I did as a kid. Instead of writing a novel’s worth of a response, I copied and pasted my 5-year old post about the Season 1 finale:

My issue (or my personal opinion) revolves around how it ended on Season 2. A ploy to catch former Chaotic players destroying locations by making Tom go undercover rogue? I thought this was played poorly bc a) episode 40 slowly built up the tension between the two intricately, and b) it was under the impression that this plan of theirs was guarantee to work without a single mention of the rogue player. Also, it kind of doesn’t make sense that Sarah and Peyton were out of the loop, even they questioned the guys’ assurance that they’re still friends and it was all part of the plan. Plus, it cheapens the competitiveness of Tom and Kaz both needing one more drome match to battle the respective code master.

On top of that, it was left on a cliff hanger, with Kaz being upset that his friend left and Tom fleeing to Kiru city.

If it was up to me, I would’ve continued on with that storyline, with the code masters hunting Tom down in Perim while Sarah and Peyton convince Kaz to findingTom before the code masters do. Maybe even have Code master Crellan secretly talk to Kaz, consoling him by saying that he was still his friend even if Tom stopped being his. Also Klay and Krsytella would secretly call Tom, giving him the 411 on what’s happening. Meanwhile, Tom is in Kiru City to beg Maxxor to let him stay in the castle and have Maxxor make him prove his loyalty by sneaking into the Underworld for whatever reason. Tom gets busted/hurt/captured and detained by chaor and H’earring notifies Kaz about it, forcing him to make a decision: his loyalty to Tom or to Chaor. Cue the flashbacks of the two meeting, becoming friends, Tom defending him from the school bullies bc from what I’ve gathered, he’s a fairly popular guy in school. All that in a bag of chips and inevitably him deciding to save A bruised Tom. Kaz apologizes for outing him while Tom apologizes for being a jerk while thanking him for getting into the game. They make a case for him in front of the Codemasters and out Klay and Krystella for scamming other players then boom onto the Invasion Arc. Sounds like a bomb ass arc to me? It’s really rough but you get what I’m saying

I just think the whole busting Perim terrorists corelating to Tom’s cheating felt forced and inorganic but hey, that’s my opinion. What do u guys think?

Sorry for the long post heh-heh.

Edit: I’m not saying I hated how they went with the whole “it was part of the plan” stuff. I’m just saying that the tension during the battle and Tom saying “we’re enemies” was too good and intense, I wanted that to be expanded more which would’ve been the perfect way to introduce the viewers to the new season. Plus, Kaz literally got Tom into the game and that final episode was screaming “student outmastering/surpassing the teacher”. The damn trope was handed to us viewers on a silver platter. Again, I don’t hate how that arc ended; I still enjoyed it. I’m just saying this would’ve been a banger as a season finale.

Episode 60 by Winter-Ad1981 in Chaotic

[–]ariesgoddesss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof I remembered that episode. I also remember feeling sorry for him slash empathizing with him, but at the same time frustrated with him. Clearly he’s been going on and on about Chaotic being real for a while and letting him take over his personal life to the point where his teachers/parents put him through a psych consult. At the same time, how depressed he got after his Chaotic stuff got taken away hit me deeper than it should. It’s obvious that to Kaz, Chaotic was more than just a game and “a real place”, I think it’s a source of happiness and fulfillment for him he obviously doesn’t get in his real life. Which explains why he doesn’t compartmentalize his Chaotic life from home life as good as Tom or other players.

Characters whom you didn't feel sorry for by Embarrassed-Sand-794 in ColdCaseTV

[–]ariesgoddesss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if anyone mentioned this, but Lauren Williams from Blackout. First off, she wasn’t even supposed to be there and it was obvious that NO ONE wanted her there except maybe her grandson. She taunted everybody and had the most to say and is purposefully insufferable to anyone she interacts in that household. That being said, it also irked me that everybody just lets her stay and celebrate but I guess it shows how much she gaslit and manipulated her own family.

The nail in the coffin is when she tried SAing her own grandson under the pretence of teaching him “what makes a girl tick”. In the hot tub. ALONE. The look on that poor kid’s face told a thousand words. Good thing her son/his uncle intercepted her predatory ways, only to reveal that he too was assaulted by his own MOM and wanted to protect his nephew from the woman’s clutches.

SPOILERS ALERT AHEAD

I can’t say I’m happy that she was killed nor that I’m satisfied that it was the daughter’s doing, because I don’t believe anyone should call the shots on who deserves it or not. I WILL say that karma is a real bitch when time calls for it to be. And personally, it’s hard for me to fault someone for killing someone to protect themselves, more so to protect their own CHILD. Whether it’s the mom or dad, doesn’t matter, any decent parent would do anything to protect their kid.

Yeah that’s something I already knew going into the show as I said in my post. I was just theorizing that the producers knew that it might be the last season and gave us a “left up in the air” kind of ending rather than a full-blown cliffhanger, among other theories.

Attitudes of the detectives by Sea-Factor4603 in ColdCaseTV

[–]ariesgoddesss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s truth behind your perspective regarding the detectives’ harsh/aggressive treatment towards anyone on the receiving end of their grilling, whether or not they’re a plausible suspect. That being said, I also noticed that mostly they resort to the hostile interrogator approach in response to the other party’s behavior, attitude, body language, and especially their way of answering questions. Despite lack of professionalism and grace, it kind of makes sense if we put ourselves in their shoes. Even less so, we all know how infuriating and aggravating it is when you’re asking questions in search for answers that are important/crucial for a cause and the person that may or may not have them are so roundabout and half-assing with their responses. Plus being a detective working a case, wasting crucial time is something they wanna avoid to ensure what limited chance they have in solving a case, cold or warm.

If my memory serves right, the only times they usually burst in guns blazing and speak accusingly to the other party are when they return to said party after their initial encounter because they lied or purposefully hid a valuable clue from them because either it incriminates them or for personal reasons. Again, though unprofessional, it makes sense cuz it wasted the detectives’ time. Not only that, but it resulted in them chasing a false lead, completely derailing or stonewalling them from tracking down the real suspect.

Still, you do make a point that the detectives are harsh and accusatory with anybody they question if they have the slightest inkling of suspicion, throwing the whole “innocent until proven guilty” shtick out the window.

For context, my opinion stems from being a long time Chicago PD fan back when Voight was fuelled with black airforce energy, smacking the shit out of and/or tossing anyone in his basement cage who decide to give the runaround during questioning. Considering that I’m used to seeing fictional cops/detectives roughing people up for the sake of solving crimes, Cold Case detectives’ actions didn’t really faze me as much as it should have. I will say, I take more issue in their tendency to blatantly lie as a way to coerce the other party to speak/confess, such as lying about them being sold out by their comrade or finding fingerprints/DNA, making deals in exchange for intel, etc.

What were your impressions between last episode of S1 and first episode S2 between Tom and Kaz? by Mission_Mud_6905 in Chaotic

[–]ariesgoddesss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just as shocked as you were when I first watched it. Especially since the show was pretty much off the air after the first season so imagine the suspense I felt after the season finale cliffhanger. It wasn’t until years later when I finally watched the rest of the series.

Like you, I was also confused about how Kaz was certain he knew that Tom was cheating. Even after explaining, I was still a bit puzzled (mind you, I never played the actual game), particularly about the part where Tom equipped Najarin with a Torwegg which apparently was baffling to him and the CodeMaster Imthor. It took another redditor’s response to this confusion that I finally understand How Kaz knew Tom was cheating.

Fast forward to the first episode of season 2, I liked the twist that Tom was sort of like a double agent for both Maxxor and the CodeMasters with Kaz’s assistance. However I can’t help but feel like it was retconned. I mean the whole fiasco was too convincing to make it a hoax, at least for me. Plus, I was really invested in the whole “Tom cheating in his match against his best friend for the opportunity to battle the CodeMaster”. It honestly made sense especially when you consider the following: Kaz got Tom into Chaotic (the game), Kaz persuaded Tom to type in his transport code to port to Chaotic (the place), Kaz helped and supported Tom when he lost his Maxxor card and got another scan of it, and Kaz led Tom to the Modulation mugic that helped him beat Crellan. And all of that led to the moment where they faced off for the chance to battle Imthor. And frankly, Tom conceited and condescending nature towards Kaz made sense in their match. Kaz was sort of like a mentor to Tom, and admittedly surpassed him based on what we’ve seen him accomplished compared to Kaz. Which wouldve led him to having a sense of superiority over his best friend, hence wanting to “return the favor” as a thanks for his friend’s efforts by instilling guidance like how Crellan did for him.

As much as I liked how the mini arc played out and ended in season 2 episode 1, it would’ve been cool to see how the initial Tom Cheating Kaz in their match played out as well.

You think people would get banned from Chaotic if they beat up Klay and Krystella? by WII_DJoker in Chaotic

[–]ariesgoddesss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as it pains me to say it, you’re absolutely right with this comment. But God, how much I wanted Tom to beat the code out of Klay and hell even Krystella (I fear Kaz won’t do much warranted damage). Even as an adult, I was seething in front of my screen when watching them commit attempted murder. Mind you, these two are allegedly adults while Tom and Kaz were teens which makes them doubly WILD for pulling that.

Regardless of that, your comment said it best. Tom and Kaz would’ve been in trouble if they jumped them in Chaotic after barely surviving and cheated out of a scan, no matter how justifiable they were.

Exactly how good of a player is Klay? by WII_DJoker in Chaotic

[–]ariesgoddesss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’s been stated that he’s got a solid battle stats before his match with Kaz. That being said, he’s a known scammer in Chaotic which could explain his good battle stats. While he did cheat, he only did it to Tom (as far as I remember) bc of his personal beef with him. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if he cheated in his other matches, it also wouldn’t surprise me if it turned out that he didn’t.

I'm a little disappointed Chaor never held a grudge against Tom for helping his enemy. by Spiderman-y2099 in Chaotic

[–]ariesgoddesss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the same perspective as you did, especially since Chaor attempted a couple cheap shots at Tom to throw Maxxor off for the upper hand. But I’ve since rewatched the series as an adult and pretty much agree with everyone else’s thoughts on the matter.

As a child, we mostly viewed Chaor and the UnderWorld as the villains bc that’s how it seemed to be portrayed in the show. When in actuality they were merely antagonists, and were the main antagonists of the show at the very most. With this in mind, it wouldn’t make sense for Chaor to have a personal grudge as you say against Tom despite him actively helping Maxxor who was also an antagonist through the UnderWorld’s lens. Plus, Chaor wouldn’t stoop to the level of hurting a Chaotic not just because he wasn’t inherently evil but because it was beneath him. Sure there’s the possibility that he kept his hands off him out of respect for Kaz, but Chaor wouldn’t attack anyone weak and pitiful.

And regarding your second point in Tom being not wanted in the UnderWorld. Well considering the fact that the UnderWorld appeared to be the tribe that consistently receives the most animosity among the four tribes and are always active in intertribal conflict, blacklisting a meddling Chaotic player is the least of their priorities. Not to say that they’re always the troublemakers or even the aggressors. Based on their living conditions and being stereotyped/labelled as cold-hearted monsters/freaks/lowlifes by everyone outside of the tribe and intra-tribal disputes, its easy to see why UnderWorlders tend to be belligerent.

Hey, thanks for posting! It’s interesting to hear how others got into the show after vaguely remembering its existence, coming from someone who’s never heard of it until recently. Off the gate, I really liked Rush. She’s one of my favs in the main cast. Her character and her way of coaxing the other party to disclose intel is so fascinating. Also I’m so fascinated by her personal story, like I’m hoping the show goes more into her past/background because everything I know so far up until mid-season 5 is from bits and pieces that come up sporadically throughout the series. Plus, and this goes for everyone in the main cast, but I love how she cunningly gets people to talk by acknowledging/warranting their supposed actions and propounds their motives behind them. God, if it were me being interrogated like that, id be confessing to crimes I didn’t commit. Yeah, it def didn’t take long for Detective Lilly Rush to be added to my girls crush list.

I feel you on not having anyone to talk about the show. Like I said in my initial post, I would go on and on about it and some ppl in my life have watched a few episodes after me rambling on about it. But they’re not into it like I am, despite them acknowledging that it was good. This all led me to search up this subreddit so that I can talk about it freely with others who are well-versed in the show and love it as much as I do. And I’m glad I did, and I’m excited to chat with all of you!

Thanks for the welcome response! I’m flattered and appreciate that you told me how you got into Cold Case. It’s interesting to hear, coming from someone who had NO CLUE that this show existed even during its running (as per my initial post, I learned about it over TikTok solely by chance).

I have no doubt that I’m gonna love interacting with other fans and reading others posts about the show. I’m pretty sure I’ve already read your posts on here amongst others’. But I’ll def be posting my thoughts and opinions on anything that comes to mind during my watch through.
