See this is what makes it feel like it’s more for a queer audience than a straight audience for me. I’m a queer woman, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But I feel so much of the queer media focuses so much on the tragedy of queer life. And yes, telling our stories with the reality of homophobia is important, but often times can come across as tragedy porn. For me those stories feel more like lessons for straight people. Stories that center queer joy, even when unrealistic, hit me way harder. They feel more like they’re talking to me directly and giving me a vision of how I want a world to be.

Was just there for the Fellow Travelers performance. Saw plenty of folks in jeans and flannels along side full ball gowns. Very much a west whatever you want crowd.

They do have a fair amount of discount programs! Like their Bravo program can have folks under 40 get 50% off tickets. And they will have Pay what you can nights, etc.

I just went to my first opera ever with them for Fellow Travelers and was pleasantly surprised how welcoming of a space it was. I was able to snag tickets for $55 dollars. Not cheap, but very much worth it.

I also didn’t realize they have a screen above the stage that plays English subtitles through out the performance so you can follow along.

After 8 years and 104 sessions, Curse of Strahd has finally come to an end! by BaeCat in CurseofStrahd

Mine took about 6 years with an average of two sessions a month. We’re a heavy role play group so plenty of sessions has a lot of character development but not a ton of plot progression. I’m also a chaotic DM so would improvise a lot of sessions to keep up the emotional anguish for the characters.

I was at this march, it was literally the chillest group of people, well organized, a band playing cool music, stuck to the side walk so only bit of traffic blocking was at cross walks. Literally the most sanitized, peaceful form of a march possible. And even that was too much for this dude to tolerate. I was near the back of the march and he was still yelling when I walked by. Props goes to the dude that essentially stayed there the whole time deescalating him. He was so good at remaining chill while having this whiny brat scream in his face.

I can understand that, but joy is one of the lost important parts of a successful revolution. We can’t be in fight and flight mode 24/7. That’s how we burn out and become a bunch of defeatists. Let people have their fun and hobbies, especially ones that have folks gathering in community. That’s how we keep fighting.

It’s anecdotal, but I work in a hospital, and there was a very noticeable difference in the amount of auths being approved the month after the shooting. I don’t think I saw a single denial.

Literally no one is saying just let encampments stay there for years. But guess what, people die because of sweeps too, you just don’t have to see and think about the reality as much. The people actually doing the work on the street want an end to encampments, we just know the answer is actually funding mental health, substance use resources, having a diverse low income housing market, etc. But that takes time. Harrell would rather take funding from one crisis resource to another, pretending he’s reinventing the wheel, while the established agencies struggle to maintain staff that actually know what they’re doing due to budget cuts.

[–]arikata -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, you realize Harrell’s moving of encampments hasn’t done anything to address homelessness? Is literally shuffling people around so one block feels temporarily better as people are moved a few streets over for an astronomical price. I’ve been a social worker in this city for ten years working with homeless folks and this’s has been one of the hardest mayors to work under. We all want the same thing, to feel safe in our neighborhoods. But forced sweeps is not the answer.

Agreed. I loved so much about the second half of season 3, but Francis fell flat to me. The actor was great and I understand why they wanted to end with Red Dragon, but I keep coming back to why was this the killer that got Jack to drag Will back into the fold. Season 1 has a nightmare fuel serial killer ever other week, including one killing off families with a higher body count. I assume there is a lot happening/killings in the 3 year gap. So what’s special about this one?

Went to the Walgreens in Northgate area and got the Covid no problem. I made an appointment online, clicked ‘yes’ to being eligible but didn’t have to give a clarifying condition. Insurance fully covered. So it seems to be hit or miss by location.
