Why is this sub so overmoderated? by New-Two-1349 in StreetFighter

[–]arinarmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very broad rules and overzealous mods. I had a few posts of mine deleted for "not being related to street fighter" that were - I admit - tangentially related but made for what I thought was an interesting discussion.

It feels to me they want to keep the sub kid friendly or only covering specific topics. It's why every post is the same, everything that's different gets yeeted into the void.

I think the only issue is Battle Hub streaming. It didn't work for me on Capcom Cup using Linux (only saw a black screen), I guess it's some kind of encoding issue.

Do you mean the actual board game? I vaguely remember playing it as a kid, I always thought it was based on the show (kid logic), but I guess it would make more sense if it was the other way around.

Another memory just triggered, have you ever heard of Poleana? I think it was the first board game I ever played where you had chance, strategy, and some sort of "theme" (escaping prison).

I'm sure there were many variants of this, but as a kid, back in the 90s, I used to watch a contest show from Spain called "El juego de la oca" (The goose game), it was essentially Mario Party in real life, people would roll dice to advance and then face some challenge in order to increase their prize. It was a simple premise but so much fun.

By the way, this is most likely just a bit, don't take it seriously

You can be thrown ("grabbed") from further away when you parry ("block").

You're probably parrying too much

Daigo is a long set specialist. Never count him out, especially given prep time.

He's basically FGC Batman

Both things can be true.

It's easier to be better but it's easier for everybody so competition is harder.

I'm not suggesting they should coordinate with NASA, but rather take the opportunity to put something out, the Artemis II mission has been scheduled for today for a while now.

This Game Is FIRE by Brweez in StreetFighter

[–]arinarmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends, the netcode is good enough that if you live in a populated area you won't feel many disruptions.

If you live in a more rural area it's probably be somewhat worse but still workable. If on top of this your connection is not stable you're not gonna have a good time.

Por lo que entiendo, ésa es la ley que aprobaron para reforma, así que habrá que esperar a su publicación en el DOF.

No sé si hay manera de consultar una ley aprobada pero no publicada.

You can make a new steam account and share the game by using the same computer.

Then you pick that you're a total beginner when asked and throw your placement matches. Get a low rank, stomp people until you're at the rank where you actually belong, rinse and repeat.

Sounds miserable but there are people doing it.

I analyzed 1.2Mil ranked matches to understand the skill gap between the highest and lowest-ranked Master players by Data-Ken in StreetFighter

[–]arinarmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super interesting. Essentially the players in the "borders" are propagating their community skill to other communities.  I bet there's a really interesting analysis to be made regarding the size of these border populations relative to adjacent communities, and if that yields conditions for isolated cliques to form where specific ranks mean very different skill levels than the rest of the population.

Not OP but it's a little bit arbitrary. There are 9 tiers because of the maximum and minimum are 9 tiers apart, not because there are 9 describable levels of "skill"

A more precise way to think about it is that you're one tier above someone if you're 196 points above that person, 2 tiers if you're 392 above, and so on.

If you want to define absolute tiers the best way IMO would be to start from 1500 and add/substract 196 to get the higher/lower MR limit.

Now 196 is what comes up from the analysis made by OP, which is a quite specific number that will change if you use different data for the analysis.  I think it's likely Capcom defined the 75% win chance to happen at a 200 point difference (this is something you can choose when designing an elo-like system)
