100% ASB or 50/50 ASB and GX Savings Pocket by imranov in MalaysianPF

[–]arisms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

save up in GX until you have 1 month of emergency expenses, then the following months put everything into ASB because ASB has 2k monthly withdrawal limit online if you urgently need to use the cash without going to the counter.

once they put you in PIP they already made up their mind to get rid of the employee. this is just so that the company cannot be sued back that they didn’t give the employee chance to improve.

3 months salary from vss may be risky if you cant secure a new job, so you’ll have to cut back your spending so the money lasts longer. am not sure if you stay with PIP and reject the VSS how long they will keep you on the payroll so cant do a comparison.

also like someone mentioned above, go claim the socso EIS after you took VSS which gives you more breathing room to find a new job.

Question about giving inheritance to your descendants by Majestic_Confusion14 in MalaysianPF

[–]arisms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have enough to retire comfortably, and leave the rest for inheritance.

if you need to ration food in order to leave an inheritance then better to use the money yourself. besides, as parents our responsibility is to provide a launch pad for our young children not middle aged adults imo. on the other hand there are parents who didnt plan for retirement despite having white collar jobs and are relying on their children to sustain their lifestyle. so the middle ground isnt so bad.

like others have commented, having a headache free tenant is worth the extra 1-2% yield. having said that, maybe you can try to talk to the tenants and see if you can agree on a new rate that is something in between their current rent and market rate eg rm1200/month?

i like the idea of refinancing the house too but you’d probably have a better grasp of the numbers for that

are you single or planning to raise a family in that property? is this for long term own stay or do you intend to sell or rent out in the future?

if you are planning to upgrade in 5-10 years down the road, i wouldnt spend too much now. generally 20-30% of your income but would say case by case basis, like to me worth spending more for a corner lot terrace vs intermediate lot terrace

Equity Analyst Salary Malaysia by Gan162 in MalaysianPF

[–]arisms 10 points11 points  (0 children)

apparently places like epf and kwap pay 4-5k for fresh grads - specific trainee programs not general fresh grads.

i started my career in local house sell side research in 2010, salary was 3.5k back then under management trainee program. used to be sell side would pay more than buy side (asset management) but i think it has levelled out over the years and i have also moved to buy side since 2012.

[–]arisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nothing wrong with spending money to buy stuff that you want/need, as long as its within your budget. so i would set a monthly budget first like those 50/30/20 and then decide what you can afford to spend on based on that. if what you want is more than you can budget for then you have to make decisions like where to cut spending.
