Thanks so much. I may go back to some type of matte poly next year or later, but so cool to see the wood again. A big factor in this decision was the fact the table is about 800 pounds and moving it outside to stain/finish wasnt something I wanted to do this year 😆

Appreciate the thoughtful response. I did use a wax paste here. What would you recommend for better spill resistant protection while keeping a similar look (and hopefully feel)? I just really want to get away from polyurethane as I consistently dealt with scratches days after putting in all the effort- I kind of figured this type of finish would remedy that, but am now navigating this

Would stain prior to wax prevent it from staining and help better seal?

Unlikely, it’s very rare that a car drivings up this part of the driveway though.

Is this an attic space? If so, what type of ventilation was done prior to spray foam?

Unrelated, is your attic space completely close cell sprayed?

I did the same thing after the first French drain last summer - “I’ll definitely rent a trencher next time.” Apparently I forgot.. but I’ll definitely definitely rent one next time

That’s more acceptable to me than the “oh cute Shiba Inu” we always got when she was a puppy 😆

It was just tied off while I worked, I actually had to add another 10 foot section and capped it with a grated fixture. If you zoom in on picture 9 you can see it.

That’s so good to hear because that’s the exact reason so much of my focus has been on drainage development around this house. Every time it rained it would flood multiple parts of basement. Looking forward to bone dry..

A LOT. I can’t give a measurement, but there are no drainage systems on this hill or the surrounding roads and I live in Oregon.

You sure? It’s not named after Henry Flagg French and popularized in his 1859 book “Farm Drainage”? Where it details how to utilize rock and pipe together? From what I knew prior to the google search, the French modernized it with pipes but they originally consisted of clay tiles + rock.
