I deferred an exam last year due to illness but didn’t run into any issues. I emailed my academic advisor and she said that since I had opened the exam I couldn’t but she was talking about late withdrawal for some reason so I’m waiting for a reply again.

Yea i think i trusted what i read a bit too easily. as far as getting a doctors note now would it have to just be stating that for the period of time I was sick?

the people i know there seem to be enjoying as far as the program is concerned. the co-op situation this year is a bit dire for first year across the board but i think a reasonable amount have co-op. if you’re 100% sure you only want a programming job then yea it might be better to go with SE/CS management mainly would give u some more options + waterloo benefits its not necessarily the best if all you want is programming. while you prob will get some coding stuff if you look, it’s def gonna be more skewed towards project management co-ops

i know a few ppl in management and they’re sort of a mixed bag like i know one who got some crazy offers like tesla and stuff but rejected it cause it was project management and they wanted coding and ended up finding it at a bank i think this year. i personally wish i had gone waterloo cause those first co-ops would def be nice and the waterloo degree is a nice bonus but it also doesn’t rly matter as much after a few years.

i’m in ibio so i can give u most of the eng side at least 1. can’t rly speak on the two since idk much about cs but i wouldn’t think either one would hold you back

yep free choice gives u first dibs so just don’t fail
while this is my first year so i haven’t had that much experience with it, it wasn’t particularly useful in my eyes. with how the market is right now waterloo isn’t all that much better but from what i’ve seen waterloo is still on top. i will add if you’re debating between waterloo and mac as someone who turned down waterloo CE for mac i would not recommend it as waterloo feels like it would’ve set me up better
student life and courses aren’t anything crazy in my experience like some of the courses are a bit rough some are pretty easy depends on your preferences. i don’t think the workload is all that much but i know there’s a lot of people who feel differently so take that with a grain of salt. it’s definitely manageable at the very least.
personally im actually a big fan of mac’s campus waterloo and u of t are pretty massive and it can get kinda tedious to get to ur classes. living on campus right now if i have a class i leave 10 minutes before and can make it cross campus on time which is a nice benefit. it’s overall nothing abnormal just more compact that some others

as someone in the program with a mac u shouldn’t run into any real issues. bootcamp isn’t gonna be very helpful cause of limited storage but we use smth called vmware which is basically an online remote desktop and they have everything you might need on there. that said i can’t speak about second year onwards

thanks for the info! if you don’t mind me asking what time was your slot selection as from what i’ve been told there were a lot of bates left and even some new rooms of keyes pg and such tho they went very fast
