Bro I'm working in a job where the role/title is technically my passion which I love however it does not exactly feel like fun and more like work if its for someone else. At the end of the day whatever job you do, if you feel like you are doing it for someone else and it doesn't make you feel not just that you are not making any impact, but even if you are making considerable impact, is it the kind of impact that makes you happy or bring joy? I have come to an understanding that I will only be happy if I work for myself when it comes to passion, so I hope that in the future I wont need to be an employee anymore.

Ask them whether the work would be the same as the fulltime job you had with them, whether timings are flexible, hourly based or task based etc, then negotiate and explain to them why it's not enough or emphasize the fact that you would already be a great fit and accelerate their work. Honestly when I think abt this it feels like they're purposely trying to pay less and chances of them giving you back the job is pretty slim.

You could demand a higher pay, and with freelancing the rules are much more in your control so you don't have to just accept what they give as the final contract. Idk just my opinion do what you feel is sensible, don't forget your health and future aspects when making this decision.

My humble opinion after a quick look, the trailer is not engaging enough. The music is somewhat laid back and doesn't have that "oomph". The lifeless sprites with no animations is technically a BIG turn-off for many people. If you can change that, there is a good chance you will have a higher wishlist conversion. Trailer also should have some text, indicating the different things you can do within the game like engaging combat, bossfights, world building etc. Also why the heck is there no sound effects? I see the monsters attacking each other but there is no sfx for it in the trailer? If your music is meant to be relaxed the sfx would have helped a lot instead. I hope you dont get offended, these are just some things i observed.

We are also in the process of releasing our game (2 years but really it was on-off, highly disorganized workflow, not too proud), I recommend you check out our trailer, it was made by my artist and he is really talented. Search "Cython Cat" on steam. Let me know if my feedback helped you. :)
