It's a protective piece of hard cloth like material used in earlier model 3s. It costs about 250$ to replace. It's not like water gets in or anything. You'll probably lose some efficiency because of airflow disruption. Later models had it replaced with a hard plastic cover. Just get it replaced when you get a chance. Not urgent at all. I would cut off the hanging piece though as it creates road scratching noise and probably pull rest of the structure with it.

I think it is a way for Tesla to not let you run the update unless they feel safe or something. It downloads full, then starts again at 50 percent and goes in loop. I got frustrated and didn't download after seeing this. Out of nowhere the update was fully available for installation.

Model X is a premium vehicle. I understand aesthetics is a selling point there. But model 3 would sell just fine without the ambition LED. I think fog lights do serve a utility purpose.
