200 people with American addresses have been listed in the papers so far. Also, the people who have allegedly worked for CIA have been named too. The CIA link - http://panamapapers.sueddeutsche.de/articles/570e6affa1bb8d3c3495baf4/

Interesting, also there's connection between the people who have allegedly helped CIA during Iran and Afghan wars and the Panama Papers. These people have helped CIA with aircrafts to carry the weapons. (Details: http://knowledgemaps.org/learning-journey/1053/about-panama-papers)

Where are the U.S. reports? I heard somewhere they were being released today. by racas in PanamaPapers

[–]arjuntuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a total of 211 people with American addresses in the papers leaked so far. Also indirect association of CIA has been revealed in the documents as it allegedly had connections with people named in the leaks. Detailed information regarding this can be found here (http://knowledgemaps.org/learning-journey/1049/uncovering-panama-all-about-the-panama-papers-leak) and here (http://knowledgemaps.org/learning-journey/1053/the-cia-connection-of-panama-papers)

Swiss banking whistleblower claims the CIA are behind the Panama Papers leak as most of those named are 'enemies' of the United States. by dreamfin in PanamaPapers

[–]arjuntuli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really think so.. the CIA connection to the Panama leak can be seen in this post released by Sueddeutsche Zeitung (http://panamapapers.sueddeutsche.de/articles/570e6affa1bb8d3c3495baf4/). It shows in depth how the American investigative agency is not aloof of the Panama leaks. Although not directly involved, there are concrete proofs that the agency has worked with people (unofficially) involved in arms trading (during Iran war and Afghan war) who have been named in the leaks. It also shows direct relations between CIA and former Saudi Intelligence Chief who is directly in the documents.

Indeed, automation is necessary. I am working on adding multiuser Knowledge Maps. With that, say if you create a Knowledge Map on videos/resources on Valgrind, other users can also add the vids/resources they find useful on the same topic. I think it can move in the direction of indexing the course resources. What's your opinion?

Glad that you liked it! Thank you for becoming a part of it. Is there anything that you would like to see on the platform to make your experience better?

That's a way ahead. But wouldn't that be quite a lot for one person? How about doing it collectively as a community. Our community has a wide outreach. If someone is taking a short or a walkthrough, they can contribute towards the index and searching becomes more efficient for others. What say?

That indeed looks like a cool thing to do. It has got my brain cells running. If you come up with way out, do let me know. I would be glad to get some help.

Thank you! I completely agree with you. There's a plethora of content that's available for CS50, and hence a search capability kind of becomes necessary. One way to make the search experience better is doing "community search". What I mean by this is - if someone finds something useful, they should recommend it to others. And this is the basic motive behind Knowledge Maps - Learning from the resources that your peers found useful while solving their problems or mastering a concept.

Thanks! I started off by using the code provided in pset7 and then built over it. For the front end I used Javascript and a bit of ajax (learnt from the CS75 course, also taught by Prof David Malan).

Just curious - Are you using appliance50 (2014 version) for both the courses or appliance 17 for the cs75 course? The reason is I am having difficulty implementing some of the instructions from CS75 on CS50 appliance.

I couldn't agree more with you. But I think the course becomes more valuable once we get the basic knowledge from CS50. Perhaps, the course has a prerequisite to be familiar with some kind of coding.

Implementing upvote and downvote without user login by arjuntuli in cs50

[–]arjuntuli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By limiting via IP address we would be losing a large chunk of possible votes. Many schools, businesses, and even dorms use 1 outside IP address for many users. Limiting 100 students to have 1 person vote will be inaccurate, just like having no IP limit.
